Jet McAlister has a secret. Eddie Chavez has the hots for Jet (not to mention Eddie’s just plain hot). Jet has too many problems to realize that Eddie’s interested. Eddie loses patience when Jet ends her waitressing shift at a strip club with a knife at her throat. Since Eddie’s a cop, he figures he can help. Since Jet’s used to solving everyone’s problems she doesn’t want Eddie’s help.
Throw in a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet’s ne’er do well father, his ne’er do well friend, Bear, Bear’s long-suffering, chain-smoking wife Lavonne and the crew from Rock Chick and you’ve got Rock Chick Rescue.
Rock Chick Rescue takes you on a wild ride with Jet, Eddie and the gang as they wrestle bad guys in a bagel shop, hit Denver’s backstreet poker tables (with big hair), and help the strippers at Smithie’s take down a would-be murderer.
Through this, Jet’s got to learn that even when life made you give up your dreams, you can still end up with the (hot) guy. Eddie’s got to rescue Jet from a bad man (so he can do better things with her) and teach her that some dreams can come true.
“Don’t ignore me while I’m trying to break up with you!”Second book in the Rock Chick series and the series is still burning hot. So much action and humor packed in a book.
Eddie Chavez is hot,, hot, hot but when it comes to ladies, he’s a bit slow. Jet, a worker at Indy’s bookstore, has a huge crush on Eddie for a long time, but won’t do anything about it. So every time Eddie comes to the shop, which is quite often, Jet acts weird around him and this creates a misunderstanding between them.
When Jet’s father pops into town for a “visit”, trouble follows and Jet has no one to rely on but Eddie and Lee’s guys.
I had one big problem with this book named, Jet. When I started reading the book, I really liked her. A strong woman who tries to take care of her mother (who recently had a stroke) and her sister (who’s in LA living the dream and who knows nothing about Jet’s financial problems). Her father shows up only when it’s convenient for him and thus Jet has no one but herself to hold responsible for her mother, the bills, the car, the house. I felt really bad for her.
So when Eddie decided to help her with the troubles her father brought home, I expected she would accept his offer. Instead, she kept everyone at a distance, not asking for any help (even though she needed it).
Eddie on the other hand, I loved. He was so sweet, protective and all he wanted was to take some of the weight off her shoulders. Was that really bad? I don’t think it was. He was an alpha male and not at all the man Jet thought he would be (she thought that he wasn’t going to stick around when the danger was finally gone! Needless to say, she was wrong!)
Once Jet got over her fears, she was an enjoyable character.
Rock Chick Rescue was definitely action packed, had a bit of suspense, lots of humor and some great new and old characters (Smithie, Daisy and Trixie)
I hope to see more of Eddie and Jet in the series. I want to see their relationship develop further (and a more confident Jet!)
Totally recommended!
