Title: Shards of Hope
Author: Nalini Singh
Series: Psy-Changeling #14

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo
Awakening wounded in a darkened cell, their psychic abilities blocked, Aden and Zaira know they must escape. But when the lethal soldiers break free from their mysterious prison, they find themselves in a harsh, inhospitable landscape far from civilization. Their only hope for survival is to make it to the hidden home of a predatory changeling pack that doesn’t welcome outsiders.
And they must survive. A shadowy enemy has put a target on the back of the Arrow squad, an enemy that cannot be permitted to succeed in its deadly campaign. Aden will cross any line to keep his people safe for this new future, where even an assassin might have hope of a life beyond blood and death and pain. Zaira has no such hope. She knows she’s too damaged to return from the abyss. Her driving goal is to protect Aden, protect the only person who has ever come back for her no matter what.
This time, even Aden’s passionate determination may not be enough—because the emotionless chill of Silence existed for a reason. For the violent, and the insane, and the irreparably broken…like Zaira.
“If I take you. I’ll keep you. Always.”
This is the second book in the series with two Psy main characters. The first one was Heart of Obsidian, Kaleb and Sahara’s story.

Truth be told I loved Sahara and Kaleb’s story even though they were both psy too but in Aden and Zaira’s story something was off. I can’t say I loved the book or the main characters but I did enjoy it.

Aden, leader of the Arrows, is not the person one simply messes with. Nobody really knows the capacity of his abilities but no one seems to care to ask. Zaira is a threat of her own, Aden’s right hand. When they both wake up in a strange place, blocked from the net, unable to use their abilities and having to deal with a shot wound, they both realize that they will have to escape or they are dead.

Escaping won’t be easy. With nowhere to run or to hide they will have to rely on a not so welcoming pack in order to survive.

I wish this was all that happened in the book. If it were I’d have loved it. Needless to say it wasn’t. Most of the book was covered by politics and the fall of silence. These two topics were a huge part of the book while the romance took only about 5% of the book and I’m not kidding. As if the lack of romance wasn’t enough, we had to deal with Zaira’s constant worry about becoming the monster of her past. I was really sorry about her childhood but how many times is it going to be mentioned before it becomes annoying?!

So yeah, I had some major issues with the book BUT in the end of the day, it all comes down to being Aden’s story and since I love Aden, I couldn’t not love his story.

Shards of hope wasn’t a perfect book, I didn’t love it but I enjoyed reading it. It was a nice addition to the series, I had a lot of fun catching up with some characters we’ve previously met. I especially loved seeing Sienna. I need more Sienna and Hawke scenes!

All in all, it was a nice read, it could be better but I’m just glad that we got Aden’s story. I don’t really like Zaira, maybe if we see her in the next books I’ll get used to her but right now, in this book, she wasn’t a great heroine. Still, this is an installment you can’t miss in the series. Just because I didn’t like Zaira that doesn’t mean anything, you may love her.

I totally recommend it and I can’t but wonder who is next. I’m really hoping to see a changeling/changeling or a psy/changeling couple.

Review: Shield of Winter (Psy-Changeling #13) by Nalini Singh

Book Title: Shield of Winter
Author: Nalini Singh
Series: Psy-Changeling #13

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Assassin. Soldier. Arrow. That is who Vasic is, who he will always be. His soul drenched in blood, his conscience heavy with the weight of all he’s done, he exists in the shadows, far from the hope his people can almost touch—if only they do not first drown in the murderous insanity of a lethal contagion. To stop the wave of death, Vasic must complete the simplest and most difficult mission of his life.

For if the Psy race is to survive, the empaths must wake…

Having rebuilt her life after medical “treatment” that violated her mind and sought to stifle her abilities, Ivy should have run from the black-clad Arrow with eyes of winter frost. But Ivy Jane has never done what she should. Now, she'll fight for her people, and for this Arrow who stands as her living shield, yet believes he is beyond redemption. But as the world turns to screaming crimson, even Ivy’s fierce will may not be enough to save Vasic from the cold darkness...

"The day I feel is the day I die.”
Shield of winter is the thirteenth book in the Psy/Changeling series by Nalini Singh. This book tells the story of Vasic, an Arrow and Ivy, an E.

Silence has failed. The end of Silence marks a new era for the Psy. An infection threatens to kill psy, spreading through the Net, turning the psy into murderers. The Psy world is becoming extinct. They are scared and trying to find their place in this new world. But the cure to their infection is closer than they think...

Ivy has always been able to "feel" the world around her. Little did she know that emotion was not only forbidden but punished as well. But after the fall of Silence the Es might be the only ones who can save their race.

Vasic has always been "cold". He knows that the only way for the Psy to survive is to abandon their rules and finally let themselves feel. So when he's assigned to protect Ivy, he takes his mission very seriously. What we know about Vasic so far, are little pieces of information that we got from previous books in the series. Vasic isn't as stable as he wants others to think. He's barely controlling himself, always on the edge of breaking. Vasic is a Tk-V, a true teleporter, trained to kill by the best of the best Ming LeBon. But Vasic wasn't meant to kill but to protect. He thinks that he isn't worthy of love, especially an empath's love, and Ivy is determined to prove him wrong!

I really loved this book! The romance was incredible, really simple but their love was so pure. What I really loved was the fact that neither of them tried to avoid their feelling but instead welcomed them. They were very open about their love and didn't try to hide or deny it. The love scenes were abso-fucking-lutely amazing, like really hot!!!

“How do you control your telekinesis while intimate with your mate?"

"I broke a damn lot of furniture at the start, including two beds." A curious glance. "What are you doing?"

"Traveling around the world.”

What I also loved, were the secondary characters. We got to see characters from former books in the series and of course, once again, our hero, besides Vasic, was Kaleb. Kaleb, who despite being very powerfull, chooses to use politics to ensure the survival of the Psy. He goes as far as forming an alliance with the Forgotten against the Council and giving the Arrows a purpose once again. The protection of the empath's lies on their hands.

Shield of Winter was an exceptional addition to the Psy/Changeling series. It had a nice flow, a great amount of action , romance, suspense and a hero to die for.

Highly recommended!

Heart of Obsidian  (Psy-Changeling #12)

By Nalini Singh

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spoiler Free

“I will fight you endlessly if I think you're wrong but I will never judge you.”

An incredible, intense book!!!

This book had so many things going on.Firstly, the book was so descriptive and thorough.Heart of Obsidian is the first book in the series that its main characters are both Psy.

Although, we have previously seen Kaleb, in Heart of Obsidian Nalini gave us his full backstory, which was very belieable and explains why he has such power. Moreover,Heart of Obsidian finally reveals who the Ghost is....I can't say that I was shocked but it was a surprise (a pleasant one).

Sahara and Kaleb's love was just EPIC! Kaleb was a tortured hero blaming himself for what had happend to Sahara.I loved the fact that even after so many years his love for her was still alive.Burning in his heart!!!

What I also liked was that even though the main characters were both Psy we still got to see the Changelings.Especially the Darkriver pack due to Sahara's connecrion to Faith! In Heart of Obsidian a big role played Aden and Vasic as well!

It was a worth reading book (just amazing).I don't want to reveal much but this book gave some much needed action for the books to come!I totally recommend it and I can't wait to read the following book.Hope it's about Vasic!!!

Synopsis:

A dangerous, volatile rebel, hands stained bloodred.

A woman whose very existence has been erased.

A love story so dark, it may shatter the world itself.

A deadly price that must be paid.

The day of reckoning is here.

From “the alpha author of paranormal romance” (Booklist) comes the most highly anticipated novel of her career—one that blurs the line between madness and genius, between subjugation and liberation, between the living and the dead.

Also, I wanted to tell you that this week I'm going to post the list with some of the books I'll be reading this summer!!!

Tangle Of Need

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been waiting so long to read this book that I actually stayed up all night long to finish it.Wow!!!I'm still surprised and happy for Riaz and Adria.

Tangle of Need is beyond belief, incredible and a must-read for everyone considering that you have prior read Kiss of Snow.

Riaz and Adria are not fated to be mates but that doesn't stop them from loving each other. They both know they need the touch and they both want to forget.Riaz has found his mate but she is married to a faithful man who loves her and he can't(will not)separate them.Adria has spent half of her life with a man she never loved and made her miserable. Both she and Riaz deserve to be happy and if they find happiness with each other then who cares???The answer is simple:Adria cares.Since there is no mate-bond between them and is abundantly clear that Riaz has found him mate. Will she take the chance???

I looooooved this book.I just couldn't stop reading(you definately know the feeling)until I was satisfied that everything turned out well.In this book we not only see how Adria and Riaz's "relationship" unfolds but we also glance inside Hawke and Sienna's bond.We read how much progress they have made and how the work through their problems,we witness their ceremony(the first one finaly,I was very curious about that)and the love between all thee members of the pack to their alpha and between them!

In my opinion this book doesn't only belong to Riaz ans Adria but to Hawke and Sienna as well(my favourite couple).

Anyway,we also glimpse other mated couples such as Mercy and Riley, who they have many little surprises ro wait for(guess you got the point),Faith and Vaughn,I adore them they make such a cute couple. We also see a lot of the Arrows,Ming,Kaleb, the Psy as a community and so on.

I totally recommend this book(must-read)and looking forward to reading the following one(not sure if there will be one but let's all hope).

Blurb:
Adria, wolf changeling and resilient soldier, has made a break with the past--one as unpredictable in love as it was in war. Now comes a new territory, and a devastating new complication: Riaz, a SnowDancer lieutenant already sworn to a desperate woman who belongs to another.
For Riaz, the primal attraction he feels for Adria is a staggering betrayal. For Adria, his dangerous lone-wolf appeal is beyond sexual. It consumes her. It terrifies her. It threatens to undermine everything she has built of her new life. But fighting their wild compulsion toward one another proves a losing battle.

Their coming together is an inferno...and a melding of two wounded souls who promise each other no commitment, no ties, no bonds. Only pleasure. Too late, they realize that they have more to lose than they ever imagined. Drawn into a cataclysmic Psy war that may alter the fate of the world itself, they must make a decision that might just break them both
