Holy cow! This was one hell of a ride!

Mercy begins exactly where Reign left off. Zeek has just murdered a dirty cop who turns out to be Jillian’s dad and everything is blamed on Jillian, who is a cop herself. Zeek knows he has once again been tricked and fallen for his uncle’s traps but there is no time for revenge. His uncle Frank has destroyed everything he fought so hard to build and is ready take on his club as well. Unfortunately, Zeek can’t choose both his club and Jillian because if he stays to take care of his club, Jillian is as good as dead and Zeek will not let that happen. Even if that means going against everything and asking the help of his brother’s club, Devil’s Dust.

Jillian can’t process what’s happened. She can’t believe that Zeek killed her father; she can’t believe what Zeek is revealing about her father. Her father was a good cop! Right? Why are they running? She’s a cop, she can explain everything that happened, tell the truth but deep down she knows that none of it matters. How can she trust Zeek again after everything he’s done? How can she love him? Well they are both about to discover that love is bigger than anything.

I loved Mercy! The book was a constant roller-coaster of non-stop action from the first page till the last. Whether Jillian likes it or not they are on the run and Zeek is not afraid to kill again if that means keeping her safe. I really really liked Jillian and Zeek’s story and hope we get more (especially after that ending!)

“Just—Just get in the shower,” he mutters, pulling back the shower curtain.

“Why are you doing all this?”

A pensive look crosses his face. “All of what?”

“This!” I wave my hands around. “Holding that nice old couple at gunpoint, in here with me. All of it?”

His eyes rake over me, and he shrugs. “So you could shower.”

“So you kidnapped a little old couple so I could shower?”

“Yep!”

It’s wrong, so wrong. Yet, I feel my chest tighten with longing and adoration. I like it. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I can’t help my attraction to him. His stare is cold, his calloused hands rough, but his draw is soft and alluring. 

“You going to get in?” He flicks a brow at me.

EXCERPT

“We need to keep moving, I don’t have time to explain this over and over to you. I can’t penetrate your naive little brain any more than I have.” His Adam’s apple bobs, and he grips my cuffs, pulling me after him.

“Why do you have to be such an asshole!?” I yank back on the cuffs to get his attention.

Looking over his shoulder, he jabs, “I guess you just bring it out in me, Rookie.”

That stung.

We walk for what seems like forever, and not one car drives by. The moon is high in the sky, and the wind is beginning to blow with a chill that has me shrinking into myself to keep warm.

My emotions are a mess. I don’t know what to accept as truth, and what is a lie. I’m always so sure of everything, until Zeek walked in my life. Now, I know nothing about nothing.

A shiver trembles from my lips causing my teeth to clatter. Zeek looks over his shoulder and stops.

“You cold?”

“I’m fine.”

Ignoring me, he shimmies his leather cut off.

“Here, this will help.”

I shake my head and hold my cuffed hands up.

“No, really I’m fine.” The last thing I want is to wear the insignia of the club that just offed one of my family members.

His face hardens, his eyes narrowing in on me.

He grips my upper arm turning me forcefully, and places the warm leather on my back. The smell of cologne, worn leather, and a hint of mint cocoon me in a blanket of danger. I find it comforting, the lingering scent a warning of adventure and risk. It’s no surprise I crave an adrenaline rush, and Zeek is a non-stop high.

Peering up under my lashes I catch Zeek looking me over hungrily, the look in his eyes anything but earnest. They’re hooded and trailing up and down my body unforgivingly.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I read by M.N. Forgy and it was WOW!

Zevin, aka Zeek, is the President of the Sin City Outlaws. His life is one of parties, drinking, killing and one night stands. His club is his life; he would die for each of his men and they would do the same. His uncle works with the Mafia and they all practically run Vegas. Zeek was once a great President with loyal men but lately he feels that the club is no longer the family he thought them to be. When a new deputy sheriff stands up to Zeek, things rapidly get out of control.

Jillian cannot believe that the law is being overrun by the Outlaws. She knows everything that is to know about them and has been warned to stay away from them and especially their leader Zeek, but there are some things you cannot stay away from! It doesn’t help that Zeek can’t stay away from her either. Their forbidden attraction could get them both killed.

Reign was a fast read! Onec I started I couldn’t put it down. Zeek and Jillian’s attraction was evident from the first moment they met and neither could stay away! However, as their relationship develops it becomes clear that Zeek isn’t the one in control of the Outlaws anymore. It seems his uncle has ruined what he once considered his family and it’s not long before Zeek and Jillian have to deal with lies, betrayals and enemies by both sides.

I really enjoyed reading Reign and I can’t wait to read the next book! It’s going to be a long wait!

“Really? You got me donuts?” I arch a brow, dropping the lid.

He turns, a mischievous smile fitting his face.

“Don’t all cops like donuts?” he jeers. I roll my eyes, placing my hand on my hip.

“That’s so stereotypical,” I huff. 

“Oh, really?” he replies, grabbing the box off the table, a smug smile still on his face.

“I’ll get rid of them then.”

“No, wait!” I nearly trip over my feet trying to grab the box of donuts. He holds them higher than me and smiles so big I think I see two dimples. Really, he’s pulling the notorious bully move holding them just above my reach? Why am I attracted to him again?

“I thought you didn’t like them,” he taunts.

“I do like them. A lot, actually.” I cross my arms, my cheeks flushing. My dad used to always take me to the local bakery to get donuts on the weekends. I would get whatever I wanted—usually anything with sprinkles—and we would drop the rest off at the department. What can I say, embrace your stereotypes.

“So, it’s true. Cops love donuts,” he states arrogantly, sitting the box back down.
