He’s the love of her life, but he doesn’t know it.
She’s his one moment of sacrifice in a lifetime of survival.
He was damaged and wild, but resilient.
She’s always been obedient. Now she’s restless.
Home for the summer between college and med school, Pearl Torres Frank knows two things: Boyce Wynn is the embodiment of everything she should run from, and everything she wants to run to. Rebellious and loud. Unconcerned with society’s opinion of him. Passionate. Strong. Dangerous.
And one more trait he hides from everyone but her:
Sweet.
“I’d rather her be happy the rest of her life without me than be the thing that made her sad.”
Sweet is the third book in the Contours of heart series and it tells the story of Pearl Torres Frank and Boyce Wynn.

When a seven-year old boy saves a little girl from drowning, their lives change forever. Pearl met Boyce the day he saved her life. Since then their lives intertwined. He became her hero but she was his savior. Growing up in very different families, in the opposite side of town with little things to keep them together, Boyce and Pearl form a special bond.

I know it sounds cliché: a privileged young girl falls in love with the bad boy but Webber’s ability to tell a story is truly unique.

What I liked: Boyce! He was such a strong character. He has lost almost everyone in his life, his father (who I hated) is dead, his brother, the only person he ever loved is dead and his mother abandoned them due to his father’s behavior. All he has left is a little trailer to sleep in and the garage he works in. I have no idea how he managed to survive with a father like that but he was very brave having to endure such a rough past. Now Boyce dreams of a brighter future.

What I didn’t like: the heroine, Pearl. She was a total brat. She and Boyce have an argument about this very matter where Boyce tries to reassure her that she isn’t a brat, she is just privileged. Well, she’s both.

Pearl was a great character but I just didn’t like her much. What I did like about her was her decision to follow her dreams and not agree with the future her parents had in mind for her. She had doubts and fears and was a bit insecure but she made it. She lived the life she wanted and I totally liked that.

Of course, there are twists to the story and suspense but in its majority Sweet was a lovely romantic story about second chances and a love that spans over fifteen years.

Review: Breakable (Contours of the Heart #2) by Tammara Webber

Title: Breakable
Author: Tammara Webber
Series: Contours of the Heart #2

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

He was lost and alone. Then he found her.
And the future seemed more fragile than ever.
As a child, Landon Lucas Maxfield believed his life was perfect and looked forward to a future filled with promise — until tragedy tore his family apart and made him doubt everything he ever believed.
All he wanted was to leave the past behind. When he met Jacqueline Wallace, his desire to be everything she needed came so easy…
As easy as it could be for a man who learned that the soul is breakable and that everything you hoped for could be ripped away in a heartbeat.
“Everyone isn’t logical. Everything doesn’t make sense in the end. Sometimes you have to forget about explanations or excuses and leave people and places behind, because otherwise they will drag you straight down.”
Breakable isn’t the sequel to Easy. Breakable is a retold of Easy from Lucas’s POV (point of view) and I’m really glad I read it.

When I read Easy, I was always intrigued by what Lucas’s thoughts were and why he acted as he did. After reading Breakable all my questions have been finally answered.

Lucas’s POV (aka Landon’s) provided us with every pieceof information that was omitted in the previous book. While reading this book we witness every struggle, both in the past and in the present, Lucas had to tackle to become the man we met in Easy. Everytime the author chooses to reveal something from Lucas’s past or just a memory, she refers to him as Landon. Because that’s who Lucas was before he became who he is now, he was just Landon. A boy who had two lovely and caring parents. A boy who never once saw how cruel and unfair this world is. Lucas lost everything in just a night: his childhood, his innocence and his mother. Losing his mother affected him tragically in his life, especially considering the way his mother died.

It was kind of weird seeing Jacquline through Lucas’s eyes. He watched after her, cared for her and eventually she became his salvation.

I loved the flashbacks Lucas had and all those little snippets of his childhood. Some memories were perfect and other just explained the nightmares he had to suffer. All these things clarified so much about his behavior and the life he led.

Once again I was mesmerised by the amazing writing, the realistic characters and the ability of the author to portray such a challenging subject.

For all the fans of Easy, I strongly recommend that you read Breakable. I was not in the least disappointed. Quite contrary, this book captured my attention from the very beginning till the end.

Lucas is the best and strongest hero ever.

When Jacqueline follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, the last thing she expects is a breakup two months into sophomore year. After two weeks in shock, she wakes up to her new reality: she's single, attending a state university instead of a music conservatory, ignored by her former circle of friends, and failing a class for the first time in her life.
Leaving a party alone, Jacqueline is assaulted by her ex's frat brother. Rescued by a stranger who seems to be in the right place at the right time, she wants nothing more than to forget the attack and that night - but her savior, Lucas, sits on the back row of her econ class, sketching in a notebook and staring at her. Her friends nominate him to be the perfect rebound.
When her attacker turns stalker, Jacqueline has a choice: crumple in defeat or learn to fight back. Lucas remains protective, but he's hiding secrets of his own. Suddenly appearances are everything, and knowing who to trust is anything but easy.
“Love is not the absence of logic
but logic examined and recalculated
heated and curved to fit
inside the contours of the heart”
Easy was the first book I read by this author. It was a pleasant surprise to read such a smart story.

I must admit that when I started reading the book, I never expected the author to give us such a thorough background for our hero. And he was a real hero for me.

This book was nothing “easy” to read. It was emotionally charged, very realistically written and dealt with a difficult subject.

Lucas was our tortured hero but he was also obsessed with Jacqueline, our heroine. Jacquline is studying economics, a decision she made based on he ex-boyfriend’s choice. After beeen attacted and rescued by Lucas, she knows she must get to know him better. After all he’s nothing like a hero should be. Tattooed, pierced and a motorcycle man, Lucas will surely make you doubt your hero view.

Jacquiline, knows she should stay away from him but she can’t resist. Her attraction to Lucas is unavoidable but at the same time dangerous for them both.

The author did a good job in portraying life on campus. Life on campus can be wild, partying, flirting and staying up all night but it can also hide many dangers.

What I really loved was the major twist the author created. Jacquline’s division between Luas and Landon. A dilemma that actually never existed.

The book follows Jacquline on her journey to college and the unexpected incidents that occur.

The attraction between Lucas and Jacquline was and felt very real. They were both very realistic characters and Lucas, despite all he went through, managed to let everything stay in the past. He was adamant to make his relationship with Jacquline work.

I’m very glad I read Esay.

Totally recommended!
