Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1)

By Susan Ee

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fav Quote:

“Are you really an archangel?”
“Impressed?”
“No. But I have some complaints I’d like to file about your personnel.”
“Talk to middle management.”

It's been six weeks after the catastrophic attack on earth. The world as we know it has come to an end, torn apart by a war between angels and humans. Trapped between a battle that has been thrust upon her, Penryn will do anything in order to keep her sister and mother alive. Even help the enemy, an angel...

When Penryn witnesses an angel being beaten and brutally stripped of his wings, her instinct tells her to help. But in her effort to help the angel she loses what she loves the most, her wheelchair-bound little sister. As Penryn watches her little sister being taken away, she's determined to get her back and they only way to achieve that is to join forces with the angel, after she helps him heal...

“Oh, please. Your giant head is getting too big for this forest. Pretty soon, you're going to get stuck trying to walk between two tress. And then, I'll have to rescue you. Again.”

This book kept me on the edge of my seat with its mind-blowing plot, action and emotion.

Penryn is the type of heroine that you love and connect with instantly. She's smart, funny but at the same time very realistc, she's strong and very loyal, she never gives up (even when she knows she'll lose) and above all she's compassionate. What intrigued me the most about her, was her relationship with her mother (who btw is really crazy, like there's no one crazier than her, like lock-me-in-an-asylum crazy). Despite her mother's craziness, though, she's still very concerned about her..

As for Raffe (yeah..Raffe's the angle) he was brilliant. An agnostic angel!Really??? That totally blew me away. Raffe is the kind of man (or angel) who you don't want to mess with. He has so many secrets and is so arrogant!!!

“In the long second before everyone absorbs what just happened, I see the angel rolling his eyes heavenward, like a teenager in the presence of overwhelming lameness. Some people just have no sense of gratitude.”

Penryn and Raffe's relationship unfolds very naturally, as they both strive to survive under adverse conditions.

“So long as you don't bleed in the shape of wing joints, you should pass for human. Oh, and don't let anyone pick you up. They'll know you're not right as soon as they feel how light you are."
"I'll be sure not to let anyone but you carry me in her arms.”

Angelfall has it all. A post-apocalyptic theme, to-die-for badass angels, a kickass heroine, cannibals and other disgusting creatures and last but not least it has a bazillion twist and turns. Yep, just when you thnk that you know what will happen everything changes. I'm telling you "you won't see the end coming"...

One negative thing this book has, it's that it's a cliffhanger. Not a big one, but a cliffhanger it is. I'm just happy that the sequel will be out in three or four months. I can't wait!!!

Highly recommended!!!
Synopsis:

It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

Review: On the Island (On the Island #1) By Tracey Garvis-Graves

On the Island  (On the Island #1)

By Tracey Garvis-Graves

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was thirty years old when the seaplane T.J. Callahan and I were traveling on crash-landed in the Indian Ocean. T.J. was sixteen, and three months into remission from Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The pilot’s name was Mick, but he died before we hit the water.

On the Island was an EPIC book!

I don't know where to start from.I L-O-V-E-D this book (I can't stop thinking about it!).

T.J. is just recovering from cancer and the only thing he wants is to spend time with his family and friends. That's until his parents decide that he has alreday lost enough time because of the cancer and it's time to go back on track! That's why they hire Anna to tutor T.J. while on their vacation in the Maldives.

T.J.'s family leave first while T.J. stays behind so that he can go to his friend's party.Anna and T.J. take off together for the islands the very next day!Everything goes as planned until they arrive at Malé International Airport in the Maldives. There their plans are being changed, and they end up taking another flight...

Their pilot, Mick, was a 50-year-old man who during their flight suffered a heart attack. After their seaplane hit the water, things became very hard for Anna and T.J.

Being trapped on a deserted island unknown to anyone isn't easy. But being trapped on a deserted island when everyone presume you're dead and you know help is not coming, is just hard!

Will they know we crashed? Were they tracking us on radar?
Maybe not, because no one came.

Anna and T.J. do anything in order to survive. But as days turn to months and months into years, life becomes more and more harder...

“I give up, T.J. You once said, ‘It’s easier if you don’t think they’re coming back’ and you were right. This one’s not coming back either. A plane will have to land in the lagoon for me to believe we might actually get off this island. Until then, it’s just you and me. That’s the only thing I know for sure.”

“I give up, too,” he whispered.

This book was prodigious! The author is an incredible story-teller who did an amazing job describing to us all the couple went through! How they supported each other, how easily they helped each other and finally how they came closer!

For people who are wondering if the age gap makes their relationship inappropriate or improper or even illegal, I PROMISE it does not! They don't get physically involved until he is almost 19-years-old. But that's even the matter because if you read the book will you see how beautiful it was watching them fall for each other.Their relationship was developing throughout the years passed, the author never tried to hasten their relationship.

The book is told in dual POVs alternately, Anna and TJ. respectively. It's one of the things I loved, because we get to see how they both feel about the things happening to them.It allows to glimpse into their minds which is very important given the situation!

This book is bound to captivate you from its first page till the last. It's one of they books that you are just unable to put down...

And finally, yes this book has a HEA!!!!

“I don't fit in your world."
"Neither do I, So let's make our own. We've done it before.”

For those who were wondering or were unsure of reading it because of T.J.'s cancer. It never came back...

Highly recommended!!!I'm going to re-read it...

Synopsis

When thirty-year-old English teacher Anna Emerson is offered a job tutoring T.J. Callahan at his family's summer rental in the Maldives, she accepts without hesitation; a working vacation on a tropical island trumps the library any day.

T.J. Callahan has no desire to leave town, not that anyone asked him. He's almost seventeen and if having cancer wasn't bad enough, now he has to spend his first summer in remission with his family - and a stack of overdue assignments - instead of his friends.

Anna and T.J. are en route to join T.J.'s family in the Maldives when the pilot of their seaplane suffers a fatal heart attack and crash-lands in the Indian Ocean. Adrift in shark-infested waters, their life jackets keep them afloat until they make it to the shore of an uninhabited island. Now Anna and T.J. just want to survive and they must work together to obtain water, food, fire, and shelter.

Their basic needs might be met but as the days turn to weeks, and then months, the castaways encounter plenty of other obstacles, including violent tropical storms, the many dangers lurking in the sea, and the possibility that T.J.'s cancer could return. As T.J. celebrates yet another birthday on the island, Anna begins to wonder if the biggest challenge of all might be living with a boy who is gradually becoming a man.

This is my second series review. My first one was about Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. Here is my series review on  the LOTU series by Gena Showalter. After this I'll review the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole.

Long ago, twelve immortals warriors – each more dangerously seductive than the last -- stole and opened Pandora’s box, unleashing the evil from within. Now they carry that evil within themselves. Violence, Pain, Death, Disease, Disaster, Misery, Doubt, Promiscuity, Defeat, Lies, Secrets, and Wrath. When a powerful enemy returns, they will travel the world in search of a sacred relic of the gods – one that threatens to destroy them all.(Goodreads)

The Darkest Fire (Lords of the Underworld 0.5)

By Gena Showalter

My Rating:5 Stars

Blurb:

He is the guardian of hell, more monster than man. She is the goddess of oppression, more angel than woman. Together they will enter the flames to battle a dangerous horde of demon lords -- and discover a passion unlike any other....

My Opinion:
A nice beggining to a wonderful series. Not much to say,I liked it and I'm impressed by their selfless actions.

The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld #1)
By Gena Showalter

My Rating: 5 Stars

Blurb:
His powers -- Inhuman...
His passion -- Beyond immortal . . .
All her life, Ashlyn Darrow has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she'll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member -- a man trapp ed in a hell of his own.

Neither can resist the instant hunger than calms their torments . . . and ignites an irresistible passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction -- and a soul-shattering test of love . . .
My Opinion:

The Darkest Night is a compelling book urging you to read more and more until you notice that you have finished it and say"What?I want more..."Yeah I know the feeling.
The Darkest Night is the first book in the Lords Of The Underworld series.Twelve warriors punished to live in earth after a tragic incident.
We first meet the Keeper of Violence,Maddox. As the keeper of Violence Maddox is fierce, strong(like all the Lords are),has no patience and lives for war. However,Maddox has been curced and has to die every night. Thus he almost never leaves the house(half of the lords live in a fortress in Budapest).Ashlyn Darrow is a human with an ability to hear every convesation that has been taken place at the location she stands. Both Maddox and Ashlyn are tormented by their abilities and their gruesome past.
The Lords are attacted by the Hunters,a group that has been gathered to fight the lords, when Aslhlyn shows up.Maddox speculates that Ashlyn may be one of them so he takes her with him back to their house. But his time is running out as midnight approaches and so does death.Soon problems will arise and the war between the Lords and the Hunters will intensify.
An incredible,worth-reading book that will capture your attention from the first till the last page. The chemistry between the two main characters is very intence and as many can say Maddox and Ashlyn fell in love from the first sight.
I absolutely recommend this to everyone and if you are not interested in reading the whole series you can read the book you choose individually. It's your choice.Although,in my opinion you should probably read the books in a chronologically order.
Prequel to this book is The Darkest Fire(I totally recommend it)and sequel to this book is The Darkest Kiss(also recommended).

The Darkest Kiss (Lords of the Underworld #2)

My Rating: 5 Stars

Blurb:
She has tempted many men...but never found her equal. Until now.
Though she has lived for centuries, Anya, goddess of anarchy, has never known pleasure. Until Lucien, the incarnation of death--a warrior eternally doomed to take souls to the hereafter. He draws her like no other. And Anya will risk anything to have him.

But when the merciless Lord of the Underworld is ordered by the gods to claim Anya herself, their uncontrollable attraction becomes an anguished pursuit. Now they must defeat the unconquerable forces that control them, before their thirst for one another demands a sacrifice of love beyond imagining..

My Opinion:
The The Darkest Kiss is sequel to The Darkest Night and prequel to The Darkest Pleasure.
I had so much fun with this book!!!
Ever since I read The Darkest Night I've been dying to learn more about Anya and Lucien.
Lucien, death himself,is really serious,he's no fun.Anya though is extremly the opposite.I liked them as a couple and I also liked the way they communicated. They understood each other and they were both intence.
They meet in a club and when Anya sees him,she is immediatly attracted to him.But Lucien knows that she has to be playing with him as he isn't attractive(his words not mine). As death,he was never able to have a relationship because he knew that the person would finally die and didn't want to live knowing that.Anya(minor Godess of Anarchy) on the other hand was always free to do as she liked.Until she was put in "jail"(for immortals) for killing a guard.Being the godess of Anarcy she despised being confined and so her father gave her a Key.Now chronus despearatly wants this key in order for his plans to work. So,he commands Lucien to either take it or steal it from her and failure means the suffering of his friends. But Anya being Anya refuses to give up the key and his only choice now is to kill her.Or not???
I looooooved this book!!!!!Anya and Lucien are my favourite couple of the series and they have everything a couple needs. They have chemistry(more than that actually),they understand each other, they are funny(especially Anya),they are never bored(how can they be when they rock) and so on.Like I said I love them.So far,I believe that this series is a very worth reading one and a must have for everyone's shelves.

The Darkest Pleasure (Lords of the Underworld #3)
By Gena Showalter

My Rating: 5 Stars

Blurb:
Reyes is a man possessed. Bound by the demon of pain, he is forbidden to know pleasure. Yet he craves a mortal woman, Danika Ford, more than breath and will do anything to claim her--even defy the gods.

Danika is on the run. For months she's eluded the Lords of the Underworld, immortal warriors who won't rest until she and her family have been destroyed. But her dreams are haunted by Reyes, the warrior whose searing touch she can't forget. Yet a future together could mean death to all they both hold dear....

My Opinion:
The third book in LOTU seris tells the story of Reyes the Keeper of Pain.We met both Reyes and Danika in the previous book The Darkest Kiss where Danika's family were abducted by the lords. After escaping Danika run away and Reyes followed her.And guess what!!!!He caught her....Both Danika and Reyes have suffered enough and it's time for a break. After months of chasing her,he finally caught her and his planning to keep her.But this time Danika knows everything.
There isn't much to say about Reyes story other than it is unique. It has everything a well written story needs.Love, pain(lots of it),adventure, fiction, death and even a good foreteller.Who could resist it???This story shows us how love can change a person either good or bad(but it sure changes us).
Nevertheless,I belive that the blurb says it all and I don't want to reveal any spoilers. It's a must read book and I highly recommend it.

The Darkest Prison (Lords of the Underworld #3.5)

My Rating:5 Stars

Blurb:
Passion and danger collide in this brand-new, eBook exclusive Lords of the Underworld adventure!

Once, Atlas, the Titan god of Strength, was the Greek goddess Nike's slave. Now, he is her master. And soon these sworn enemies destined to destroy one another will be forced to risk everything for a chance at love...
My Opinion:

The Darkest Prison is a short story that can also be found in Into the Darkanthology. This novella should be read after The Darkest Pleasure and before The Darkest Whisper.I have to admit that this story is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
We see two new characters which are sworn enemies since our hero is the Titan god of Strength and our heroine is the Greek goddess of Strength.Nike once enslaved Atlas and carved her name on his chest but now the situation has reversed. Now Nike has to obey Atlas but he the only thing he wants from her is a nice sweet revenge. So,he decides that since she carved her name on his chest he would carve his name on her back. And so he did....
This story is a fascinating one and grabs your attention from the first to the last page.I loooooved both characters but I have to say that Atlas was my wek point.I mean who wouldn't want a man like him.Even when it hurt him to do actions that he knew would have severe consequences for him,in the end,he did everything that was possible for Nike's safety.
This book is a proper additionto to the LOTU series and a must read for everyone!!!!!

The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld #4)

My Rating:5 Stars

Blurb:
He is the keeper of Doubt and his entire world’s about to be rocked.

Bound by the demon of doubt, Sabin unintentionally destroys even the most confident of lovers. So the immortal warrior spends his time on the battlefield instead of the bedroom, victory his only concern…until he meets Gwendolyn the Timid. One taste of the beautiful redhead, and he craves more.

Gwen, an immortal herself, always thought she’d fall for a kind human who wouldn’t rouse her darker side. But when Sabin frees her from prison, battling their enemies for the claim to Pandora’s box turns out to be nothing compared to the battle Sabin and Gwen will wage against love…
My Opinion:
Prequel to The Darkest Pleasure and sequel to The Darkest Passion. The Darkest Whisper tells the story of Sabin, keeper of Doubts. We have also seen Sabin multiple times in the previous books. In his book, the keeper of Doubts reveals his true self and let down his guard for a special not human woman.
Gwen isn't your average human girl. She is much more.Abducted by the hunters Gwen has lost almost a year of her life until the lords set her free.As soon as she is out of the cage she kills the guard by ripping out his throat with her teeth. The Lords saw how fierce and strong she was and took her with them.I particularly loved the conversation she and Sabim had on the plain back to Buda:
“Demon?” Gwen gasped out. Her back jerked ramrod-straight, and her face leeched of
color. “Did you just say demon?”

Oh, uh…did I say that?” Strider once again glanced around the plane helplessly. “No, no.
I think I said seaman.”

Yeah I know it's just incredible.
Anyway,When they get to Buda she and Sabin get to spend more time together and know each other better.Although, they don't have many things in common they both understand the need for love and so their realationship begins...
As always I loved this book and it was everything I expected it to be.Totally recommend it.

Hint:Team Harpies..

Heart of Darkness (Lords of the Underworld #4.5)

By Gena Showalter

My Rating:5 Stars

Blurb:
Three "New York Times"-bestselling masters of paranormal romance deliver three brand-new tales of seduction. Includes the scintillating new Lords of the Underworld story The Darkest Angel by Showalter; Lady of the Nile by Krinard; and Love Me to Death by Shayne. Original.

My Opinion:

In Heat of darkness you will find a short story about the warrior angel Lysander and Gwen's "evil" harpy sister,Bianka.Their story should be read after The Darkest Whisper and before The Darkest Passion.I had so much fun reading their story. They were both passionate and fierce and I really liked their attitude. It's a shame it was so short. There are so many stunning scenes but my favourite one was Lysander and Paris's scene oil wrestling match.(it's so funny and only Bianka gets to see them). In this book we also see Sabin and Gwen's wedding....So much funnnnnnnnnn!!

The Darkest Passion (Lords of the Underworld #5)

My Rating:5 Stars

Blurb:
For weeks, the immortal warrior Aeron has sensed an invisible female presence. An angel--demon-assassin--has been sent to kill him. Or has she? Olivia claims she fell from the heavens, giving up immortality because she couldn't bear to harm him. But trusting--and falling for--Olivia will endanger them all. So how has this "mortal" with the huge blue eyes already unleashed Aeron's darkest passion?
Now, with an enemy hot on his trail and his faithful demon companion determined to remove Olivia from his life, Aeron is trapped between duty and consuming desire. Worse still, a new executioner has been sent to do the job Olivia wouldn't....
My Opinion:
Finally Aeron's story....I wanted so much to read his story in order to find out is so importsnt about him for Paris to give up Sienna.I I did...
Aeron is really unique in his own way. After so much death the only thing that he wants is piece and quiet. But not everyone is of the same opinion.
Olivia, now a fallen angel, fell in order to protect Aeron.Once upon a time she was an angel who brought happiness and laughter to humans. Now she is instructed to either kill Aeron or fall.Guess she chooses the second.Aeron commited a crime by keeping Legion bound to earth(by bounding her to him) and now that Olivia has fallen someone else will take her task.
Aeron and Olivia come together in the most fragile times,as the war between the Lords and the hunters has growth and once again we see Galen "torturing" them. But their path is already set in stone.Olivia didn't only lose her wings in order not to kill Aeron but she also wanted to experience all life's aspects as mortals do.And guess who she wanted to experience them with????Yes you're right, with our gorgeous hero.Although he is reluctant at first,he decides to give in(really??he just can't resist her). With so many danger around them can they really be together???
This book is one of my favourite ones and I enjoyed reading it.It's an excellent addition to the series and a very intriguing one as we get more information about Wrath's Keeper and where the Lords and up after dying...
Totally recommend it..

The Darkest Lie (Lords of the Underworld #6)

My Rating:5 Stars

Blurb:
Forced to his knees in agony whenever he speaks the truth, Gideon can recognize any lie—until he captures Scarlet, a demon-possessed immortal who claims to be his long-lost wife. He doesn’t remember the beautiful female, much less wedding — or bedding — her. But he wants to . . . almost as much as he wants her.

But Scarlet is keeper of Nightmares, too dangerous to roam free, and a future with her could mean ultimate ruin. Especially as Gideon’s enemies draw closer . . . and the truth threatens to destroy all he’s come to love . .
My Opinion:

The sixth book in LOTU series is hilarious beyond anyone's imagination.
Gideon, keeper of the Demon of Lies, can never utter a thruth without enduring agonizing pain.Able to recognise any lie but yet not the one's who ,matters the most.Scarlet, keeper of Nightmares and sexy as hell, feels betrayed by Gideon, her supposed to be husband and father of her child,as when she needed him most he was lost. But Gideon remembers nothing of the things Scarlet tells him,the only thing he knows is that he wants her.Two controversial topics collide together, thruth and lies. But what is thruth and what a lie???Have these things really happen or is one of them misled???
Gideon and Scarlet's story is a love story that will leave you starved for more.Humor and action aren't absent from the book(especially humor) while emotion dominates. This book shouldn't be missed as it also contains important info about the sequel The Darkest Secret.

The Darkest Secret (Lords of the Underworld #7)

My Rating: 5 Stars

Blurb:
Keeper of the demon of Secrets, Amun can manipulate the darkest thoughts of anyone nearby. But when the immortal warrior is chained and isolated to protect those he loves, death is his only hope of release—until he meets Haidee, a fellow prisoner whose beauty and hidden vulnerability draw him into a reckless test of his loyalty.

Haidee is a demon-assassin, raised to despise Amun's kind. Yet how can she hate the man whose touch sets her aflame? But to save him, she must give herself body and soul...and face the wrath of a powerful adversary sworn to destroy her.
My Opinion:

Oh...Finally Amun's story.I can't tell you how much I love it.It's both my favourite book in the series but also Amun's my favourite Lord.
Amun,Keeper of the Demon of Secrets, can see everyone's thought but after his recently trip to hell more than one demon is inside him and guess what...they are driving him crazy.Haidee,a demon-assassin former hunter and the one responsible for Baden's death, former keeper of Wrath is on the run until Strider caughts her and takes her to Buda. There Haidee is put in the room next to Amun's who is lying unconcious in his bed.She mistakes him for her boyfriend Micah and so tries to help him.Well, she doesn't succeeds to escape but she suceeds in drawing the attention of the angel Zacharel who advises the Lords that if they want to save Amun, they should sent him back to hell and this time he will only take Haidee with him.Are they going to survive this trip???
As I said F-A-V-O-U-R-I-T-E book. There isn't much to say other than that just pick it and read it.You won't be disappointed.

The Darkest Surrender (Lords of the Underworld #8)

My Rating: 5 Stars

Blurb:
Possessed by the demon of Defeat, Strider cannot lose a challenge without suffering unimaginable pain. For him, nothing stands in the way of victory. Until Kaia, an enchanting Harpy, tempts him to the razor's edge of surrender.Known among her people as The Disappointment, Kaia must bring home the gold in the Harpy Games or die. Strider is a distraction she can't afford because he has an agenda of his own-steal first prize, an ancient godly artifact, before the winner can be named. But as the competition heats up, only one prize will matter-the love neither had thought possible...
My Opinion:

I love every book of this series so this book proved exactly why I love them so much. The Darkest Surrender is the eighth book of The Lords Of The Underworld and I can say that I am in love with all the lords and wish they were real.I love every series of Gena showalter not only Lords of the Underworld but also Alien Huntress series,Atlantis series,Stand Alone series, all of her anthologies and of course Royal House of Shadows.

So,here are a few lines of the book:

“Is it my birthday already?”

“No,” Juliette said. “It’s mine.”

Speaking of, “When is your birthday?” Strider asked Kaia. His friends would assume he wanted to know now of all times simply to irritate the newcomers, to show them just how little they mattered. And that was partly true. But Strider found he really, really wanted to know anyway. For himself.

Wide silver-gold eyes swung to him. “You don’t know?”

“No.”

Pouting, she twirled a strand of her hair. “How can you not know?”

“Do you know mine?” he asked.

“Of course I do. It’s the day you met me.”

As good a day as any. “No, it’s not, because that was a trick question, baby doll. I don’t actually have a birthday. I was created fully formed, not born.” True story.

“You can be such a moron.” She threw up her arms, exasperated. “Don’t argue with me about this kind of thing. I’ll always be right. Seriously. You were dead until you met me and we both know it. Which means I brought you to life. So, happy belated birthday.”

Amun laughed, which was a shock. The serious warrior never laughed. Anya nodded as if she’d never heard a more solid argument and Gideon snickered behind his hand. Scarlet slapped him in the back of the head.

“You’re right,” Strider said, wanting to laugh himself. “So when’s yours?”

“Shut up,” Juliette suddenly snarled. “I thought we were going to trade insults.”

The Darkest Seduction (Lords of the Underworld #9)

My Rating:5 Stars

Blurb:

Possessed by the demon of Promiscuity, immortal warrior Paris is irresistibly seductive—but his potent allure comes at a terrible price. Every night he must bed someone new, or weaken and die. And the woman he craves above all others is the one woman he'd thought was forever beyond his reach …until now. Newly possessed by the demon of Wrath, Sienna Blackstone is racked by a ruthless need to punish those around her. Yet in Paris's arms, the vulnerable beauty finds soul-searing passion and incredible peace. Until a blood feud between ancient enemies heats up. Will the battle against gods, angels and creatures of the night bind them eternally—or tear them apart?
My Opinion:
Go here .

By Gena Showalter

My Rating:5 Stars

Blurb:

"New York Times" and "USA Today"-bestselling author Showalter delivers an ultra-sexy anthology containing three darkly sensual otherworldly tales and a brand-new Lords of the Underworld guide. This collection includes the novellas "The Darkest Fire, The Amazon's Curse," and "The Darkest Prison."
The Darkest Facts (Lords of the Underworld)

By Gena Showalter

My Rating:5 Stars

Blurb:

I, Cronus, King of the Titans, powerful warrior god, defender of the people, hereby command you to read and enjoy this Lords of the Underwold guide. I am not mentioned nearly enough, but that is neither here nor there. What you will find in this guide includes: notes from those vile fools, the Hunters; interviews with the Lords of the Underworld, as organized by that irreverent whelp William the Ever Randy; a candid discussion about the Lords of the Underworld among their women; answers to questions readers have been dying to know; and an intimate look at my very own sacred scrolls.

As I said, you will read and you will enjoy. That is your mission. Nay, your honor. Do not disappoint me. You will not like the results. Just ask Aeron, keeper of the demon of Wrath. Bad things tend to happen.

This Lords of the Underworld guide is also available in the anthology Into the Dark.

The End...
I Believe that the next book is going to be about Kane...

Vampire Academy Series

Posted on Friday, May 4, 2012 11:14 PM

So,like I said in a previous post I would like to review series...!!!!I'm going to start with Vampire Academy  as it happens to be my favourite one.Hope you enjoy.!!!

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1)
By Richelle Mead

My Rating: 5 Stars

Blurb:
St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

My review:

First and foremost,I would like to say that I looooove and admire the author and the way she created all these characters and places. In this series there are three types of vampires:The Moroi (royal pureblood vampires),the Dhampir(a mix of moroi with humans or dhampirs, who are guardians) and the Strigoi (the evil vampires who are supposed to have no soul).

Our two heroines are:a Moroi vampire Princess named Lissa and a dhampir named Rose. When things get complicating for our heroines after Lissa's parents car accident, the two decide to live St. Vladimir’s Academy. But how much longer can they run?Not much.Soon, the academy takes action and sents a group of guardians to bring them back.Leader of the group is our "hero" Dimitri Belikov(Oh god I looooove him).
While their time back in the academy the two girls try to adapt ,although they know that such a thing is not happening any time soon.Someone is trying to drive Lissa crazy or so she thinks, and someone is falling for his tutor. Hint:It's Rose. After loosing valuable time away from her training Rose is forced to take an extra fighting class with who else but the best Dimitri Belikov.

A romance will be created while loyalty will be judged.

But what they haven't yet realized is that more things are at stake than they thought.

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

My Review:
Winter break has come and it freezes all, included emothions. While Lizza is better than ever Rose doesn't feel like it.She has many problems and not just emotional ones.Christian's aunt Tasha(the b***,I like her,I really do but  how dare she to take Dimitri away from us) comes into the play and decides that she needs a guardian and who can be better than an old friend?

As all these things weren't enough, everyone has to deal with the danger of strigoi. With the danger lurking the academy takes its break in a luxurious resort. The strigoi attacks become a major problem for all and so Mason, one of Rose's friend and maybe something more, decides to play the hero.Things will get more complicating while lives will be put at risk.

A new character will come to bond with the heroines while friendship and duty will take a different meaning.A tragedy will bring them together but the spirit will reap them apart...

Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy #3)

Is Rose’s fate to kill the person she loves most? It’s springtime at St. Vladimir’s Academy, and Rose Hathaway is this close to graduation. Since Mason’s death, Rose hasn’t been feeling quite right. She has dark flashbacks in the middle of practice, can’t concentrate in class, and has terrifying dreams about Lissa. But Rose has an even bigger secret . . . .She’s in love with Dimitri. And this time, it’s way more than a crush. Then Strigoi target the academy in the deadliest attack in Moroi history, and Dimitri is taken. Rose must protect Lissa at all costs, but keeping her best friend safe could mean losing Dimitri forever…

My Review:
It's hight time,Rose learnt that life is full of surprises and the most occur when you don't expect them.Life has become harder in St. Vladimir's Academy and the end has almost approached.
Rose sees things that don't make sense and this ruins her whole performance at the academy.Adrian (I love him but I'm a Dimitri fan) comes into the scene when he is most needed and figures out the real source of Rose's problems.Spirit is now affecting Rose than Lissa, but as a loyal friend that she is,she refuses to take Lissa's gift but telling her the truth.

A "trip"to the royal court makes things better and cools thing up for the whole group .But when they get back to the academy emotions will intesify and inevitable actions will made.An attack at the academy will forever change all..

Is love strong enough  to defeat  death? Is friendship more importantthan what your heart desires???

Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same.

The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?

Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?

My Review:
Love hurts.
Nobody else knows this better than Rose. She saw Dimitri "die",she left her Lissa for him and now she must keep her promise to Dimitri. The promise she made to him  long ago.Rose travels to Russia to find Dimitri and instead she finds an Alchemist,Sydney.Sydney helps her to get to her destination and find what she's looking for.But an accident brings her to meet a powerful Moroi,Abe.He(for unexpected reasons) wants Rose to leave Russia and return back to the US.She on the other hand, goes to Novosibirsk and hunts with friends she met in Baia (Dimitri's homeland).

The good news is that she actually finds him,the bad....he kidnaps her and forces her to remaine with him.But Dimitri has other plans. He wants to turn her and she doesn't.On her attemp to escape she and Dimitri fight and she stabs him.

She returns to the US with the hope to continue her life peacefully with her friends but her hopes are dimmed   when she receives a letter.

Love was never as painful as it is now...

After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri’s birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir’s—and to her best friend, Lissa Dragomir. It's graduation, and the girls can’t wait for their real lives outside of the Academy’s cold iron gates to finally begin. But even with the intrigue and excitement of court life looming, Rose’s heart still aches for Dimitri. He's out there, somewhere.

She failed to kill him when she had the chance, and now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and she knows in her heart that he is hunting her. And if Rose won't join him, he won't rest until he's silenced her...forever.

But Rose can't forget what she learned on her journey—whispers of a magic too impossible and terrifying to comprehend. A magic inextricably tied to Lissa that could hold the answer to all of Rose's prayers, but not without devastating consequences. Now Rose will have to decide what—and who—matters most to her. In the end, is true love really worth the price?

My Review:
Back at the Academy it's time for gratuation and letter after letter is arriving (or should I say warnings).Lissa and Rose go to the Royal court to find information about the prison where Victor is held.Victor is the main link to find Robert, his half-brother,who knows how to restore a strigoi to his orifinal form. The adventure begins in Alaska(really great scenes, love the book) and ends in Las-Vegas.There they find Robert who says that a strigoi is restored only when a spirit user stakes him/her.

But who is really going to do it???Lissa or Adrian???

I'm not going to say,but what I'm going to say is that Dimitri will be restored and imprisoned for his "sins".Though everyone will get calmer as time pass.

A murder wil bring everything upside down and once again loyalty will be judged.

The first book in Richelle Mead's brand-new teen fiction series - set in the same world as Vampire Academy.

When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Bloodlines explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive - this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone's out for blood.

My Review(actually my favourite line from the book):
Adrian’s new research partner stepped through the door, and I knew the uneasy peace we’d just established in Palm Springs was about to shatter.
Dimitri Belikov had arrived.
OMG...I don't think it can get any better.!!
