Title: Sworn to Protect
Author: Katie Reus
Series: Red Stone Security #11

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

His worst mistake was walking away from her…Quinn Brody ended things with sweet, sexy Athena when he learned she was a virgin. Their relationship was getting too serious and walking away seemed like the best plan. But Quinn has never been able to forget Athena. And when she gets a marketing job at Red Stone Security, it becomes impossible. Quinn wants a second chance, but Athena's not interested—even if the chemistry between them is off the charts.
Now his past has come back to haunt him…The man Quinn put behind bars has been released from prison and is out for blood. Quinn took years of the man’s life and helped his abused wife flee so now the ex-con is hellbent on using Athena to make Quinn pay.
He’ll do anything to protect her…When Athena is sent to Vegas for a tradeshow Quinn volunteers to accompany her—to watch her back. But professional quickly turns personal when the threat to Athena escalates. Refusing to lose her again, Quinn will do anything to save her. Even if it means risking both his life and his heart.
Sworn to protect is the eleventh book in the Red Stone Security series and tells the story of Quinn, a RSS Agent and Athena, Belle’s cousin.

When Athena comes to work for RSS she never expects to see the only man who she ever desired but who rejected her. Quinn has long regretted breaking up with Athena but when he finds out that they will soon be working together, he knows that he will have to grab the opportunity fate offers. Only Athena knows better than to make the same mistake twice. So when Quinn is tasked with escorting Athena to Las Vegas, old passions awake while old enemies resurface.

Sworn to protect was so different from the other books in the series. Reading

Quinn and Athena’s story was so refreshing. Athena was really young but she was really focused on her future and she was confident in the choices she made and what she wanted. Quinn was very different from her. He was determined to fix his mistake, loyal, protective and weak when it came towards his feelings for Athena. There was a strong connection between them that you just couldn’t ignore.

What I really really loved was seeing characters from the previous books in the series and especially: Harrison, Belle and Grant, Iris, Travis, Ivan and Lizzy. I had missed them all so much. I really want to see more of Harrison and Mara. We don’t get to see them very often and since they are my favorite couple I want to read more of them (maybe a small novella?).

Katie Reus is a genius and once again she has delivered something amazing. Sworn to protect was one incredible read with one hell of a plot. Nothing was missing. It has action, suspense, romance, a hot alpha hero and a heroine willing to do anything to get her HEA.

Highly recommended!

This week I read some pretty amazing books which I have already reviewed over at Goodreads and will post here too. Four of these books were recommended to me: Beneath these chains and the King were recommended to me by some friends on Goodreads and I really loved them. This week I discovered a new author, Tillie Cole through one of my bffs and I already read two of her books. Of course, I plan to read more since the ones I read were great.

Also, I got to read two JLA books. They were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I'm a huge fan and I really couldn't wait for these two releases. Another great new releases that I got to read were Burned by Darkness and When you're back. As with JLA, I'm a huge fan of both Alexandra Ivy and Abbi Glines so I HAD TO READ THEM. I loved BBD and I liked When you're back.

What did you read this week???

Review: Michel/Striker (Bayou Heat #15-16) by Alexandra Ivy, Laura Wright

Title: Michel/Striker
Author: Alexandra IvyLaura Wright
Series: Bayou Heat #15-16

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N
MICHEL
Michel doesn’t trust Dr. Chelsea Young. Why should he? She willingly worked as a researcher for the humans who were using Pantera as lab animals. Unfortunately, his suspicions haven’t kept his cat from becoming obsessed with the need to possess the beautiful female.
Chelsea is determined to atone for her youthful mistakes. Even if that means working with the aggravating Michel who refuses to believe she now wants to help the Pantera. Together they must overcome their mutual animosity to track down her former boss, Stanton Locke, before he can commit the ultimate betrayal.

STRIKER
Dark, damaged and definitely gorgeous, Striker is all about the mission. And when the mission’s over? The Hunter is out of there. That is, until one of Locke’s lab rats is forced on him—a beautiful, pained female who needs sex to survive.
The lovely Twelve was abducted and taken to the labs several years ago. Used for breeding, she was given drugs that make her irresistible to males. It was a hellish, lonely life. But she’s free now, and determined to discover the truth about her past. If only the road to that truth didn’t involve the heartless male she can’t stop herself from wanting.
After so many dreamy heroes you would think that there can’t be others but you’re wrong! Michel and Striker’s stories were equally if more amazing from the other Bayou Heat books.

Michel by Alexandra Ivy
Michel is a Suit, a spy and as such he can’t but be suspicious of Dr. Chelsea Young. Chelsea used to work for Locke in the Labs where they would experiment on abducted Pantera. Chelsea never agreed with the way the Pantera or the human experiments were handled. That’s why she got out of Locke’s world and was thrust into the Pantera world. Now she will have to face the consequences.

Forced into working with Chelsea, Michel will have to keep himself under control if he wants to bring down Locke and his Master. There’s no one better to help him than the person who has closely worked with Locke.

Michel and Chelsea’s story may be a short one but it had everything. Exploding passion, a yummy hero, a strong heroine, action and a bit of suspense.

Striker by Laura Wright

That was a big WOW!

From the very first page you could tell this wasn’t going to be your average romance.

Twelve, aka Seleste, has been in the labs for a very long time. She remembers nothing of her past than her number and her need. When Striker is asked to take care of her, it’s his duty to comply.

This was beyond anything I expected to get. Striker’s story was so different from the other Pantera ones. There is chemistry and there is passion and Striker and Seleste had both. Striker wants nothing more than to help twelve remember her past and thus herself. He will give her his body and nothing more. Or so he thinks.

Seleste wants to move on but first she will have to remember the person she was in the past so she can face her future. She wants nothing more than to have her memories and she will do everything to get them.

Both Seleste and Striker were so strong characters. Seleste had suffered so much: she was tortured and psychologically damaged that she only wanted to move on with her life. Striker was betrayed in the worst way possible. He was burned by love and he is smarter than to repeat the same mistake twice.

Michel/Striker was an excellent addition to the series. The Pantera is closer on bringing the Master down. Does that mean that the end is close too? I hope not.

Totally recommended!

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine and is where we can talk about books we are looking forward to being released.

Title: Illuminae

Expected publication: October 20th 2015

This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do.
This afternoon, her planet was invaded.
The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.
But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she'd never speak to again.
What are you waiting on Wednesday???

Review: Aflame (Fall Away #4) by Penelope Douglas

Title: Aflame
Author: Penelope Douglas
Series: Fall Away #4

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo
The tables have turned. Now I have the power—and it’s his turn to beg…
Everyone wants to be me.
Maybe it’s the sway of my skirt or the way I flip my hair, but I don’t care. Even though their attention is the last thing I crave, I just can’t stop. I dominate the track, the speed rattles my bones, and the wind and the crowd screams my name.
I’m her. The girl driver. The queen of the race. And I’m surviving—something he thought I’d never do.
They all still talk about him. Did you see Jared Trent on T.V? What did you think of his last race, Tate? When is he coming back to town, Tate?
But I refuse to care too much. Because when Jared does come home, I won’t be here.
Tatum Brandt is gone. I’m someone new.
“Everything else may change, but never the way I love you.”
Beware Spoilers Ahead!

I usually (always) love happily ever afters but when a HEA is too HEA it ruins the whole book. For me Aflame was one of those “too HEA” books.

In the previous book, falling away, Jared and Tate were having some issues with their relationship and their lives. They know each other since they were children, they loved each other since they could understand what love is and now they have their whole lives ahead of them to share their love. Somewhere along the way though, Jared lost himself. Does that mean that he doesn’t love Tate anymore? Answer: NO.

Jared wanted some time off their relationship where he could find himself, make some choices for his future so he could be the man Tate deserves. Is that too much to ask?

So Jared takes some time off of their relationship while he sorts himself out. Tate being Tate believes that the world revolves around her and as always takes it personally. I was so surprised to see that not even six months had passed since they broke up and Tate has already moved on! I was furious.

I rarely, almost never, blame heroines. Let’s face it, most of the time it’s the hero’s fault when something goes wrong, but I didn’t like Tate very much. They claim to have loved each other since they were children but yet when Jared needs some time for himself, Tate goes with the first man that stands in front of her. Where did the love go? Just because they had a break does that mean that their love is gone? I can’t understand it!

I didn’t really like this new Tate. Everyone believes that she’s a new confident Tate but believe me when I say that I have seen confident heroines and Tate isn’t one of them. She was just angry. If confidence means making the worst mistakes of your life then yeah, Tate was indeed confident. Is this the real Tate? I hope not. I loved the Tate we got to see in the three previous books and that’s the picture I’m going to keep about her.

Anyway, Jared was A-M-A-Z-I—N-G. He was confidentbecause he had time to concentrate on his future ad shape it like he wanted to and I really liked that. I also loved seeing Madoc and Fallon and Jax and Juliet. I even liked the huge surprise we got from the latter couple.

Aflame was the grand finale for all of them. Every couple has their HEA. I’m going to miss all of these crazy characters, even the new Tate. Mistakes and all, she is the woman Jared loves. The epilogue was too much for me but I know that people love this kind of things so I’m going to leave it be.

Despite everything, I strongly recommend this book. This is the last book we will be getting for the whole gang and you mustn’t miss it.

I hope you enjoy it!

First of all, I'd like to say I'm sorry! These past few weeks I haven't replied to any comment on my blog and I'm really sorry!!!

This week I finished The Dark Protectors series by Rebecca Zanetti and begun reading (for the first time) the Harry Potter series. I managed to read the first 4 books and I really loved them. So far I haven't noticed major differences between the books and the movies but I can't wait to read the Deathly Hallows. Since there were two movies for this book I'm really curious to see if they have changed anything.

I also got to read Sweet, the 3rd book in the Contours of the Heart series. I had this book in my tbr pile for quite some time and once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down.

What did you read this week???
