Title: Until The End
Author: Abbi Glines
Series: Sea Breeze #9

Publisher: Simon Pulse (October 28, 2014)

Goodreads | Amazon | iTunes | Kobo |BN

The backstory that fans have been clamoring for—how Rock and Trisha fell in love—is the final installment in the Sea Breeze series from New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines. And don’t miss the sizzling Epilogue, where Abbi wraps up all the Sea Breeze couples’ stories!
Trisha Corbin always knew how to hide a bruise. With her momma’s boyfriends unable to keep their hands off of her, she had no choice. And as long as it meant the guys wouldn’t go near her little brother, Krit, it was worth it. But her days of dreaming that Prince Charming would ever come rescue her are far, far in the past.
Rock Taylor always had a plan. Through football, he would rise above the life he was born into. A full ride to play for a major college team was within his reach—assuming he didn’t let anything get in his way. But scoring a date with the hottest girl in Sea Breeze was proving harder than expected. Trisha Corbin was every man’s walking fantasy, and she wouldn’t even glance his way.
When Rock finally does get Trisha in his truck, it isn’t for a date. It’s because he picks her up on the side of the road, beaten and bruised and walking to the local hospital. Before Rock knows it, football is no longer his life. Trisha Corbin is. And he’ll do anything to save her. And keep her.
In addition to Rock and Trisha’s love story, this special novel contains the wrap-up stories of all your favorite Sea Breeze couples: Sadie and Jax, Marcus and Low, Cage and Eva, Preston and Amanda, Jess and Jason, Krit and Blythe, and Dewayne and Sienna.

Excerpt
Excerpt 4-Rock, The Past
I had tried words with her. I had tried actions. I had tried everything to get her to realize that I wanted her. That I wanted to be near her. That I wanted her to be mine.
She was making me lose my mind.
I stalked toward her and she backed up against the wall as she watched me, wide eyed and confused.
Dammit she was too sexy to be fucking cute too. That was shit guys couldn’t shake off. Girls like her weren’t supposed to exist. They made men weak. She had me so fucking tangled in knots it was painful.
I placed my palms on the brick wall on either side of her head and stopped only an inch from our bodies touching. “What do I have to do to get you to get this? What, Trisha? Fuck, you’re all I can think about,” I said softly as my gaze dropped from her eyes to those plump lips I played with in my fantasies.
The tip of her pink tongue wet her bottom lip and I was lost.
My mouth covered hers and the small gasp that broke from her lips was the only chance I needed to slide my tongue onto the sweet heat of hers. I had kissed a lot of girls. But never had I felt like my world was being completely rocked.
Trisha’s hands slipped over my shoulders and she held onto me. And that was fucking perfect. She wasn’t pushing me away. She was holding on to the ride and, damn, it was one hell of a ride.
The softness of her lips moved under mine and then she began to join in on the kiss. It took all my willpower to keep from pressing her against the wall. I had to be careful with her ribs. But I wanted my hands on her. I wanted to get lost in how wonderful she felt.
When she leaned into me and whimpered I broke the kiss and moved back instantly. “Are you okay?” I asked, looking down at her ribs.
She didn’t respond, and panic that I’d hurt her started to grip me. I found her eyes and saw the same arousal in them that I had been feeling until that whimper had scared me.
I started to lower my mouth again, needing to taste her more.
“No, wait,” she breathed, pressing both her hands on my chest this time.
“Did I hurt you?” I asked her.
She shook her head. “No, it’s just. I… we shouldn’t… why did you do that?”
I closed my eyes and forced myself to be patient with her. Trisha had her issues and trust was one of them.
“Because I’m crazy about you. Because your lips are the prettiest damn lips I’ve ever seen. Because you think you’re a burden to me when I just want to keep you close to me all the time. Because you are making me lose my mind. Because I don’t want to be your friend, Trisha. I want to be yours.”
Her mouth fell slightly open as her blue eyes stared up at me in surprise. How did she not already know all this? It wasn’t like I was being subtle.
“You’re… you’re crazy about me?” she asked.
I held back a laugh. “Yeah, and everyone seems to see it but you.”

Review: After the End (After the End #1) by Amy Plum

Title: After the End
Author: Amy Plum
Series: After the End #1

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo

She’s searching for answers to her past. They’re hunting her to save their future.
World War III has left the world ravaged by nuclear radiation. A lucky few escaped to the Alaskan wilderness. They've survived for the last thirty years by living off the land, being one with nature, and hiding from whoever else might still be out there.
At least, this is what Juneau has been told her entire life.
When Juneau returns from a hunting trip to discover that everyone in her clan has vanished, she sets off to find them. Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact. Everything was a lie.
Now Juneau is adrift in a modern-day world she never knew existed. But while she's trying to find a way to rescue her friends and family, someone else is looking for her. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the secrets of her past.
Life is easier in black and white. It's the ambiguity of a world defined in grays that has stripped me of my confidence and left me powerless.
After the end is the first book I read by Amy Plum. Her Revenants series has been sitting for a long time to my tbr shelf and, after reading this one, I’ll be definitely moving it to my read shelf.

Juneau, our heroine, has been deceived into believing that World War III has left the earth barren and uninhabited. Born and raised in Alaska's wilderness, Juneau is content with her life until one day everything changes. Her tribe is taken by men Juneau has never seen before and she’s determined to take them back. All of her life she was warned never to cross their borders. The time has come though, to test her limits.

When Juneau wanders beyond their borders, she expects to find a destroyed world. But nothing has prepared her for what’s to come. She’s been lied. Juneau discovers a thriving civilisation and she just found out that someone’s after her. Surving in this new world is harder than she thought though.Especially when she witnesses that she’s different from the average human. Juneau has a direct connection with the Yara (she has psychic powers and she can cast spells) which means she can conjure and manipulate things for good purposes. Juneau can’t believe that her father and her tribe would lie to her but now she knows it’s imperative to find them, rescue them and get the answers she deserves.

But this world isn’t hers. She knows little about it and she needs someone to help her find her way. That’s when Miles shows up. The son of a wealthy man, the only reason Miles knows about Juneau is because his father is after her. So, Miles decides to help his father out and find her for him. But things get more complicated when Miles tracks Juneau and she’s not at all the “spy” he thought her to be.

Wow ! what a roller coaster. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. It was packed with so much action and suspense. Juneau was a great heroine. She had all the characteristics a leader should have. On the other hand, Miles was a city boy. Always getting what he wants, Miles wasn’t much happy when Juneau started judging him. They were so different characters but put together they made two parts of a whole. The book had so much going on. There was a lot of mystery surrounding Juneau but at the same time Miles had a lot of secrets as well.

I loved this book! It was nothing like I expected it to be but I found that surprises aren’t always bad.

The only thing I hated was the major cliffhanger. I understand that cliffhangers are supposed to motivate one to read the next book but when the next book is to come out on May 2015, I find cliffhangers very frustrating.

Anyway, I want to say a big thank you to Shana from Books: The Cheapest Vacation You Can Buy for giving me the opportunity to read this book. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have read this book.

Looking forward to reading more!

Highly recommended!

Nocte
Title: Nocte
Author: Courtney Cole
Series: Nocte #1

SAVE ME AND I'LL SAVE YOU....
My name is Calla Price. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m one half of a whole. My other half-- my twin brother, my Finn-- is crazy.
I love him. More than life, more than anything. And even though I’m terrified he’ll suck me down with him, no one can save him but me.
I’m doing all I can to stay afloat in a sea of insanity, but I’m drowning more and more each day.
So I reach out for a lifeline. Dare DuBray. He’s my savior and my anti-Christ.
His arms are where I feel safe, where I’m afraid, where I belong, where I’m lost.
He will heal me, break me, love me and hate me.
He has the power to destroy me.
Maybe that’s ok. Because I can’t seem to save Finn and love Dare without everyone getting hurt. Why? Because of a secret.
A secret I’m so busy trying to figure out, that I never see it coming. You won’t either.
  EXCERPT:

Glancing up, I suck my breath in when I find dark eyes connected to mine, eyes so dark they’re almost black, and the energy in them is enough to freeze me in place.
A boy is attached to the dark gaze.
A man.
He’s probably no more than twenty or twenty-one, but everything about him screams man. There’s no boy in him.
That part of him is very clearly gone. I see it in his eyes, in the way he holds himself, in the perceptive way he takes in his surroundings, then stares at me with singular focus, like we’re somehow connected by a tether.
He’s got a million contradictions in his eyes….aloofness, warmth, mystery, charm, and something else I can’t define. He’s muscular, tall, and wearing a tattered black sweatshirt that says Irony is lost on you in orange letters.
His dark jeans are belted with black leather, and a silver band encircles his middle finger. Dark hair tumbles into his face and a hand with long fingers impatiently brushes it back, all the while his eyes are still connected with mine.
His jaw is strong and masculine, with the barest hint of stubble. His gaze is still connected to mine, like a livewire, or a lightning bolt. I can feel the charge of it racing along my skin, like a million tiny fingers, flushing my cheeks.
My lungs flutter and I swallow hard. And then, he smiles at me. At me. Because I don’t know him and he doesn’t know better.

ARC Review & Giveaway: The Boy In Her Dreams by Laekan Zea Kemp

Title: The Boy In Her Dreams
Author: Laekan Zea Kemp
Series: The Girl in Between #2

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N
The first book in the series is currently free on Smashwords (on every format)!

When Roman wakes from a six month coma, the first thing he sees is the girl of his dreams. Except Bryn isn’t confined to the dream-state anymore and neither is he. He’s awake and alive and as the memories of how he and Bryn fell in love come rushing back, so do the memories of why he’s lying in that hospital bed in the first place.
Plagued by guilt, Roman makes a decision that alters both their fates and as Bryn fights for her life in a German hospital, Roman must fight for her forgiveness before it’s too late. Because Roman and Bryn weren’t the only things to wake out of Bryn’s dreams. The shadows seem to be hunting them both and a strange side effect of Roman’s miraculous recovery may be the only means of stopping them. That is, if he can reach Bryn before she slips too deeply into the very dreams that seem to be imposing more and more on their waking lives every day.
The boy in her dreams is the sequel to The Girl in between and follows the story of Bryn, a teenage girl who suffers from Klein-Levin Syndrome ( a disease that makes her sleep for long periods) and Roman, a boy who just woke up from coma.

This book starts off exactly were the previous left off. Roman has woken up from the coma and Bryn believes that things are finally looking better. But she couldn’t be more wrong. Roman may have woken up but he has changed. He’s no longer the boy Bryn met in her dreams. Roman is facing his own demons now and Bryn can’t do anything but wait for him. However, they both know that Bryn is running out of time. Her symptoms are getting worse forcing her to go to Germany to be part of an experimental cure for her disease.

Across the ocean, Roman realises his mistake too late. He should have never let Bryn leave like that. So, when Bryn’s uncle gives him the opportunity to fix his mistakes, Roman is happy to accept. Will the thruth set them free or rip them apart?

The boy in her dreams was insanely incredible. It was so interesting following their journey and it was quite a journey. I admired Bryn for her strength and Roman for his determination. They were both such strong characters. But so were and the secondary ones. Bryn’s mother has suffered so much yet she remained strong, calm and efficient for her daughter’s sake.

Moreover, I loved Dani, Bryn’s cousin and Felix, Dani’s boyfriend. Felix! Oh, Felix. What to say about him?! I think I might have liked him more than Roman. He was so sweet, charming, loving and protective! How could I not like him?! Anyway, Dani played a big role but I cannot say that I liked her that much in this book.

However, there were times that I got lost in the story. There were so many things going on at the same time that I truly lost the flow of the story. When things got quite normal again, it was much easier to follow the story. Besides that, everything else was great.

This book hid many secrets and it was very interesting unravelling them. There were many new characters and namy twists and turns. Watch out for the new characters! You never know who’s telling the truth.

Filled with action, suspense, romance, dreams and two incredible protagonists, The boy in her dreams will surely capture your attention.

Totally recommended!

For Jenna, seeing her mother again is worth everything. Determined to keep her promise, she is faced with experiences and decisions that force her to leave her childhood behind.
Excerpt

The governor was elevated above the crowd on a make-shift stage in the center of the room, speaking comforting words into a microphone, as people yelled questions and concerns.

“I hear what you’re saying. I’m not saying not to worry. With words like epidemic and now pandemic being thrown around…it’s a worrisome situation. But we’re safe here, and that’s what we need to focus on now. Panic won’t solve anything.”

“Is it the terrorists?” someone yelled.

“No,” the governor said, amused. “I’ve been told it’s a virus.”

“What kind of virus?” someone else asked.

“We’re not exactly sure yet,” Governor Bellmon said.

He was being honest. I’d give him that.

“There are reports in Mississippi!” a man said, holding up his phone.

The crowd erupted, and the governor leaned over to whisper something in a man’s ear. He was dressed in a suit, and he nodded before leaving the stage immediately. He walked over to Tom, the fire chief, just feet away from where we stood. Tom listened intently to the man in the suit and then waved to his men to come closer.

“The governor has ordered we gather water and supplies. We’re going into disaster mode, guys. I know most of you came in for the photo op, but you’re getting called in. Let’s get going.”

The men gave a nod and turned for the back door. Dad looked around and caught Tom as he was making his way toward the police chief and the mayor.

“Tom, I’ve got my little girls here,” Dad said.

Tom looked down at Halle and me and then nodded, giving Dad an unspoken pass, before he continued on.

“Now what?” I asked.

“We wait for the guys to get back and help as best as we can.” He leaned in, whispering in my ear. “Do me a favor, Jenna. Stay off your phone. I don’t want any of the stuff on the news to scare your sister.”

I felt a small hand grip mine. I knelt down beside Halle. Her stringy blonde hair was a ratty mess as it always was after school. Her clothes were mismatched, and her heather-gray hoodie jacket was tied around her waist. She pushed up her black-rimmed glasses, her ice-blue eyes glistening.

We couldn’t look more different—Halle with her light-blue eyes and tiny frame and me with my honey-brown irises and chestnut hair. I was always athletic, always pushing against boundaries, vying for independence, even when I was little. Halle just always seemed so fragile.

As if she could hear my thoughts and personify them, she squeaked her next words, “I want Mom.”

“I bet she’ll head this way as soon as she gets off work. She’ll want to be here with us,” I said.

Halle shook her head. “She won’t come here, Jenna. She’ll go to our place.”

“Red Hill? That’s just if something bad happens, silly.”

Halle looked around at the roomful of frightened people. “This is bad, Jenna.”

I stood and squeezed her to my side.

Review: White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: White Hot Kiss
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: The Dark Elements #1

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne… it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.
“You need something," he said, and when I stared at him, he added, "Your face."
"My face?"
"It's in need of my kisses.”
First off, let me start by saying that ever since I read Obsidian, Armentrout has become one of my favourite authors. I buy her books without a second thought and I always love them. White Hot Kiss was no exception.

Layla, our heroine, lives with the Wardens ( gargoyles who hunt and kill demons in order to protect humankind) despite being a halfing (half demon and hald warden). As far as she can remember herself, she was always taught to hate demons and that led her to ignore her demon side. Thus she has always felt as an outsider. Zayne, her only warden friend and her secret crush, is the only one who never treated her as half demon, he’s the only one who makes her feel normal. Until him…

Roth, a powerful demon, bursts into her life at the most unsuitable time. Roth is the total anthithesis of Zayne. Heavily tattooed and pierced, Roth walks into her life with the promise of showing her, her real legacy. Layla has always wondered about her demon, especially now that her demon powers are getting stronger and she can’t seem to be able to control them. So when Roth shows up, she can’t resist.

This book was mind blowing. Words aren’t enough to express how I felt about this book. It was abso-fucking-lutely amazing. Layla was a very intriguing character. She was neither a warden nor a demon. She was the best of both. She was very protective of those she loved and despite what everyone thought of her, she always managed to be confident.

Roth was another story altogether. As always Armentrout has created a flawless (yet sometimes imperfect ) character. As opposed to some readers, I was never torn between Zayne and Roth. Zayne may have been the wise and safe choise for Layla but Roth was her “mate”. He was charming, funny, protective and just amazing. I wish he was real so I could claim him. I fell for him almost from the very beginning. But aside from all his charm , Roth wasn’t without his secrets. It was interesting unravelling each and every of them.

White hot kiss just became my favourite read from J. Armentrout. It was everything I expected and more. A YA filled with gargoyles, demons, romance and humor. I’ll try to patiently wait for the sequel despite that unexpected end!

Highly recommended!
