I am different. I have always been different, but no one can know or my life will be in danger. So I hide in plain sight, wearing drab clothes and thick glasses and trying to be invisible. I’m so good at hiding, no one has ever noticed me. Until Ian…the mysterious and oh-so-cute boy I know I need to avoid.Let me start by saying that I don’t usually read books like Atlantis Rising mainly because I hate “paranormal sea creatures” but the blurb really captured my attention. Once noticed, there was no getting away from it and I’m glad I requested it.
Now I have been seen. And more terrifying still, I am wanted—by those who would protect me and those who would destroy everything and everyone I love. But if they’re all terrified about who I am, wait until they see what I can do…
Alison knows that she’s different. Having grown up as an orphan, the only family she has ever known is the McKyes and she’s not willing to bring danger to their door. Because Alison has a secret. Three years ago, she met someone who knew exactly what she was. She had a choice to make: either hide and protect her family or reveal her true self and endanger the only people she ever loved. The choice wasn’t that hard to make, especially considering she had been living in secrecy all these years, hiding among humans.
Until them. Brandi and Ian, the new students in her school who just can’t understand what “ignore me” means. Much as Alison wants to be ignored, there’s something different with the new students…
Atlantis Rising was definitely different from the books I’m used to reading (mostly YA and NA). So if you’re looking for something new, then this is for you! I’m glad I read it myself. I really liked the characters, not only Alison, who was a well developed character but Lillian, Brandi, Ian had their own personality.
The plot was interesting enough and after the first chapters which were a bit too slow, the book picked up and I couldn’t put it down. Will there be a sequel? Who knows. One thing is for sure, if there’s a sequel, I’m definitely reading it!
Totally recommended!
