Although I read quite a few books this week I only loved The Road! I hated Captive in the dark which I almost DNF-ed but decided to read just to see what happens in the end. The rest of the books I just liked!
What did you read this week?
Sofia T.
Ooh, I've always heard good things about the Road, I've just never gotten around to reading it. :) So glad you liked it!

Cormac McCarthy is a wonderful writer. The Canterbury Tales is a classic. it may be boring, but so many authors use it as a reference point that it's important to read it. I hope you have time for some books you area really excited about next week.
ReplyDeleteI only read a few chapters of The Road before I quit, finding it too slow for me. I keep meaning to give the film a try but never seem to get round to it!
ReplyDeleteI read Captive in the Dark back in 2014 and liked it okay but I don't see how so many really love it, it wasn't that good. How was The Canterbury Tales?
ReplyDeleteYour stacking the shelves is a bit different than most I've seen wherein you've read your selection already. I like it actually, because as you've indicated, you're able to tell us which you loved and the ones that aren't so great. :)

I know it was for school, but I *love* the Canterbury Tales! Some are a little slow, but others are hilarious. I hope you enjoyed some of them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my Stacking the Shelves post :D
The Road was a strange book for me. I read it very quickly and didn't want to put it down...but I am not sure that I would say that I really liked it. It looks like you had a great week.
ReplyDeleteI hung out with CJ Roberts at a book signing last year - she is such a fun person. I need to do a re-read of Captive in the Dark. Hope you enjoyed it!

I will fully admit that I actually love the Canterbury Tales. I kind of just want to read Talon because of the cover. I don't think I even need to read the synopsis!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting! Great post and happy Sunday! :)
I am curious about There But For The...the cover and blurb drew me in.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your new books...and for visiting my blog. Enjoy!
Oh no! Was the end of Captive in the Dark worth it? It's my favorite cover in your list this week. Hope this upcoming week treats ya better! Happy Reading :)
ReplyDeleteThe Road is brilliant, even if it's incredibly bleak. Have you seen the film version? It's pretty good, but will make you feel bad!
ReplyDeleteThe Road is a gripping and good one. Enjoy this week's haul!
ReplyDeleteOoo, lots of great romance novels in this post! I haven't read any of them, but Talon caught my eye. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

ReplyDeleteThe Road is lying on my shelves somewhere waiting patiently for me to pick it up--I might have to make that happen sooner, huh? Great reads this week--thanks so much for stopping by my StS and commenting! Have a great week!
