In Karen Marie Moning’s latest installment of the epic #1 New York Times bestselling Fever series, the stakes have never been higher and the chemistry has never been hotter. Hurtling us into a realm of labyrinthine intrigue and consummate seduction, FEVERBORN is a riveting tale of ancient evil, lust, betrayal, forgiveness and the redemptive power of love.I waited a year for this book and I'm blown away! It definitely lived up on my expectations but just as the previous books in the series this is an *effing* cliffhanger as well! WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE COMING OUT?
When the immortal race of the Fae destroyed the ancient wall dividing the worlds of Man and Faery, the very fabric of the universe was damaged and now Earth is vanishing bit by bit. Only the long-lost Song of Making—a haunting, dangerous melody that is the source of all life itself—can save the planet.
But those who seek the mythic Song—Mac, Barrons, Ryodan and Jada—must contend with old wounds and new enemies, passions that burn hot and hunger for vengeance that runs deep. The challenges are many: The Keltar at war with nine immortals who’ve secretly ruled Dublin for eons, Mac and Jada hunted by the masses, the Seelie queen nowhere to be found, and the most powerful Unseelie prince in all creation determined to rule both Fae and Man. Now the task of solving the ancient riddle of the Song of Making falls to a band of deadly warriors divided among—and within—themselves.
Once a normal city possessing a touch of ancient magic, Dublin is now a treacherously magical city with only a touch of normal. And in those war-torn streets, Mac will come face to face with her most savage enemy yet: herself.
Don’t read this review if you haven’t read the previous books in the series!
I have no words!!! Well I do but this was abso-f*cking-lutely BREATHTAKING! I think I’m in the majority of readers when I say that I was disappointed with Burned. When I read it, a year ago, I felt that it didn’t reflect the amazingness that the Fever series is! HOWEVER, Karen Marie Moning knew what she was doing when she was writing this one!!!!
The Hoar frost king is no longer a threat but the damage is already done. When he stole the Earth’s music frequency, the frequency that keeps all the living thing, well alive, he left behind black holes that threat the Earth’s future. The war is no longer between mortals and immortals but between death and survival. If they want to survive they will all have to “temporarily” work together to find the Song of Making.
Sounds easy but it’s really not! I forgot how much I loved the Fever world. Moning is a brilliant author with super amazing skills! You will get plenty of answers in this book but you will also get new mysteries. Worry not though, there is still more to come.
Some of you may think this is simply Jada’s story (aka Dani) but Moning is not yet done with Mac and Barrons and neither are we. Mac is no longer the woman we met in Darkfever. She’s stronger, more confident and part of Baroons world. Together they are unstoppable. I wasn’t so sure about their relationship in the previous book because it seemed a bit unstable but when you read Feverborn there is no question about their bond.
And of course let’s not forget about the series huge change, Jada. Mac and the Nine are unable to accept her but they quickly realize (thanks to the ever wonderful Dancer) that if they want their Dani back they will have to accept this part of hers. Truth be told, I had difficulty accepting her myself in the previous book but Feverborn is so different. We get a different Jada. She’s still cold and distant but she has vulnerabilities and a past (her time in Faery) that very much reminds of Dani’s own past. She really broke my heart in this book and Ryodan’s! FINALLY!!! Ryodan opens up about Dani. We get to see some really EPIC scenes between them but I think this is just a small part of what’s coming! Ryodan was AMAZING and I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m starting to love him more than I love Barrons. Team Ryodan all the way!!!
This isn’t just Mac, Barrons, Ryodan and Jada’s story. We get to not only see but also hear from the Highlanders, the Nine, Cristian and Dancer. After reading Feverborn, it’s so easy to forget my disappointment with Burned. This was beyond anything I expected to read. Ii devoured it! Action packed from the beginning till the end, Feverborn delivers the ultimately best story in the series! I’m dying to read MORE!!!
