THE BLOOD BROTHERS SERIES

DEADLY SILENCE, #1

LETHAL LIES, #2

TWISTED TRUTHS, #3

Review

5 Stars!!!

The second book in the Blood Brothers series is already out!!!

Anya is a professor of criminal psychology but when she finds herself the target of a serial killer, she goes to the only person she trusts to help her, her sister. When her sister, an FBI agent is taken and murdered, Anya blames herself for her death as she I the one who put her in the Copper Killer’s path. But when Anya meets Heath, a private investigator who was supposedly helping her sister with the case, she makes an impulse choice that could ruined them all.

Heath did not expect Anya to provoke the killer and drag him into a fake relationship, but the damage has been done. With their identities exposed, the brothers are now vulnerable. The people after them won’t hesitate to capture or even worse kill them and those they love. The brothers will have to find the killer and elude their enemies in order to survive.

Lethal Lies was an incredible addition to the series. Somewhere between their efforts to find the killer and evade their enemies, Heath and Anya’s relationship develops and what started as a bait to lure the Copper Killer, turns into something real. I loved the way that Zanetti combined the action, suspense and mystery with the romantic aspect of the book. We also get to see the Grey brothers in action *throws confetti* a pretty short scene but a definitely satisfying one. I wish we get to see some more of them before the series ends.

I’m super excited for Denver and Noni’s book, Twisted Truths (out in November), especially after the little hint at the end of this book. I can’t wait for it!!!

Review: Dark Protector (Moon Shifter #6) by Katie Reus

Title: Dark Protector
Author: Katie Reus
Series: Moon Shifter #6

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N
He walked away once; he won't do it again.Wolf shifter Aldric Kazan is no stranger to pain. Since the loss of his mate a century ago, he won't allow himself to fall for someone again—not even the feisty female who stirs things in him that he thought were gone long ago. But as a supernatural investigator, he's forced to team up with the same woman he vowed to stay away from.
She let him in once; she refuses to do it again.Natalia Cordona refuses to back down from any challenge—even if it means joining forces with Aldric, the sexy and brooding man who won't get too close. Locating missing vampires before a volatile war breaks out seems nearly impossible as the duo struggle with their explosive and undeniable attraction. Now it's up to Natalia and Aldric to trust each other to stop an all-out war from breaking out that would destroy the harmony they've all worked so hard for.
Dark Protector tells the story of Aldric, Jayce’s brother and Natalia Kordona.

After violently losing his mate, Aldric has completely secluded himself until he comes across his brother, Jayce, and his new pack mates. Aldric and Natalia met in the previous book and their chemistry was off the records. However, Aldric was still mourning for his mate and ignored what his wolf was trying to tell him. Now, Natalia wants nothing to do with him but a mission will bring them together no matter what they want.

Aldric and Natalia were one stubborn couple. Aldric would rather suffer alone than be hurt again but neither Natalia nor Jayce are willing to let him alone. Natalia knows not to push him but time is against them and they will have to work together or face a war.

I really liked Dark protector! It was not just Aldric and Natalia’s story. We got to see Aldric’s healing journey and his reconciliation with his brother as well, which I really liked.

ARC Review: Shadow Falling (The Scorpius Syndrome #2) by Rebecca Zanetti

Title: Shadow Falling
Author: Rebecca Zanetti
Series: The Scorpius Syndrome #2

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo
Before the Scorpius Syndrome tore through North America and nearly wiped out the population, Vivienne Kennedy was the FBI’s best profiler. The bacteria got her anyway. But she survived. She recovered. And when she woke up from a drug-nightmare of captivity, her skills as a hunter of men had gone from merely brilliant to full-on uncanny. Her mysterious rescuer wants her to put them to the test. But no matter how tempting he is, with his angel’s eyes and devil’s tongue, Vinnie knows she shouldn’t trust him.
If the FBI were still around they would rate Raze Shadow as one of the bad guys. His military training can’t wipe out his association with the Mercenaries, the most feared gang in a thousand miles. His loyalties are compromised. He won’t even tell Vinnie his real name. But there’s no FBI in the new America of fear and firepower, only instinct and risk.

And the way his arms wrap around Vinnie tells its own story. Whatever else Raze is concealing, he can’t hide his desire . . .
Shadow Falling was A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

The book begins some weeks after the ending of Mercury Striking! Vivienne -aka Vinnie- is struggling to adjust, her nightmares and hallucinations surely do not help her situation. Fortunately, there’s something -someone – who does! Raze Shadow may be Vinnie’s savior but the man is far from a hero, not when he has his own agenda and especially not when his agenda goes against everything Jax Mercury stands for!

There were so many things going on this book! It was insanely good! We have Raze, who has his own agenda. Vinnie, who is trying to remain sane while at the same time trying to fit in this new society. Jax, who is facing some serious inner territory issues while also facing bigger threats from the surrounding gangs and the President himself. Lynn, who is struggling to come up with a cure without a proper lab. The President who is preoccupied with reorganizing the army while looking for opportunities to capture Lynn and Vinnie and so on! The book definitely offers variety!

I adored Raze! He was everything I thought he would be and he definitely lived up to my expectations! I actually really like all of the major characters so far, including those introduced in this book! I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Justice Ascending, Tace and Sami’s book, especially considering Sami’s real identity! I’m also very excited to see what’s going on between Maureen and Greyson, they can deny it all they want but there’s definitely something going on with them and it’s definitely going to be scorching HOT!

ARC Review: Rock Wedding (Rock Kiss #4) by Nalini Singh

Title: Rock Wedding
Author: Nalini Singh
Series: Rock Kiss #4

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh continues her Rock Kiss series with a hot, sweet, emotional contemporary romance about love and forgiveness…
After a lifetime of longing for a real family, Sarah Smith thought she’d finally found her home with rock star Abe Bellamy, even if she knew Abe didn’t love her the way she loved him. But their brief relationship, filled with tragedy and heartache, nearly destroyed her. Alone, emotions in turmoil, and already shaky self-esteem shattered, Sarah struggles to pick up the pieces in the wake of their divorce.
Abe knows he’s to blame for the end of his marriage. Caught in a web of painful memories, he pushed away the best thing in his life – the sexy, smart woman he adores – breaking them both in the process. Then fate throws him a second chance to get things right, to prove to Sarah that she means everything to him. Abe desperately wants that second chance at love...even if he knows he doesn’t deserve it.
But can he convince Sarah – now strong and independent without him – to risk her wounded heart one more time?
Rock Wedding was freaking INCREDIBLE!

Each book in the Rock Kiss series has been uniquely beautiful and Rock Wedding was no exception! I thoroughly enjoyed reading Abe and Sarah’s book!

If you’ve read the previous books in the series, then you already know that Abe and Sarah used to be married but due to Abe’s drug addiction and therefore erratic behavior, the couple separated.

People can’t change but they can surely try! Abe is now clean and after the disaster that went down in Rock Redemption involving Sarah, her (ex) boyfriend and Abe himself, Sarah just needs a break. Abe seems to have changed a lot in many aspects but is Sarah ready to take a chance and risk her heart once again?

I’m in love with Rock Wedding and Abe and Sarah and their HEA and everything in-between. Abe was a tortured soul who made a lot of mistakes, with his biggest one being pushing Sarah away! Their marriage was far from perfect and Sarah knows that Abe was not the only one responsible for their divorce. Now they both know better, they are more mature and confident in what they want. Now may be the perfect time to rekindle a fire that never died, if only they are willing to risk it all this time…

Rock Wedding is about what the title suggests: weddings. That’s right, not just one but many! We get to see all of the Schoolboy Choir members and their other halves including Gabriel and Charlotte.

Whether you loved or not the previous rock stars, Abe is just a man trying to find what’s missing form his life and that’s Sarah! Rock wedding is a must-read. Go read it 

Review: The Power (Titan #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: The Power
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: Titan #2

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo
With any great change, there is always strife, and the Covenant University has become the frontline between pure-bloods who want the Breed Order reinstated and the half-bloods who want the right to control their own destinies.
Fate has other plans.
The violence is escalating and war between the races seems inevitable, and it couldn’t come at a worse time. Hyperion may be out of commission, but Josie and Seth know they have only earned a reprieve. Seth must get Josie fully prepared, which means controlling her newfound abilities, and they need to find the other demigods before the Titans do.
But the gods are sensing a greater threat.

Only one thing is more dangerous than a bunch of starved Titans, and that’s an out-of-control Apollyon. The aether in Josie is drawing Seth in deeper, and when lust mixes with love and gives way to power, he knows being close to her is not only dangerous to her, but to everyone around them, but letting her go requires a level of selflessness that just isn’t Seth’s style.
The paths taken in the past are becoming the roads of the future.
Just as chaos breaks out, familiar faces from the past return, complicating the already strained bond between Josie and Seth, and when the danger from the Titans erupts with devastating consequences, the dark allure of power calls to Seth again, but this time Josie might not be able to pull him back.
And when the struggle between power and love becomes the deadliest battleground, there may be no salvation.
Beware: You will be blown away!

Holy cow! I’m not sure how many book JLA is planning on releasing for this series but this is JUST the second one and I’m already blown away!

The power begins where The Rerun left off. Josie and Seth are enjoying their life and their relationship at the Covenant. Seth is still trying to help Josie control her new powers and at the same time defend herself. But, the more capable Josie becomes at controlling her powers, the more her aether bring out Seth’s dark side. What was once “simple” training for Seth, is now getting out of control. To top it all up, Alex is back and she is determined to help Josie and Seth find the rest demigods.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, the tension between pure-bloods and half-bloods at the Covenant is out of control and every day, brings new fights. The world may be getting out of hand, but Josie and Seth have their own mission and with a bit of divine help, they are once again back on the road, which brings out the ultimate danger, the Titans.

The power was abso-f*cking-lutely addictive. There was non-stop action from the beginning till the very end. It was funny and above everything, it was insanely HOT! I’m not sure this book should be considered a YA because Seth + relationship = HOT+ HOTNESS + SCORTCHING HOTNESS! I really missed the covenant world and I’m really glad The Power reminds us why it’s an awesome world to live in (well, not right now with the rising tension and violence but generally speaking)

The end was MIND BLOWING and I really can’t wait for more! #NeedMoreSeth

Review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Torn is the fourth book in the LOST series and tells the story of Victoria and Wade, of the team members!

Victoria and Wade are partners but in the last book, Shattered, we saw them come closer. In Torn the chemistry between them explodes! Victoria may be an intelligent, brilliant woman but she is a woman with secrets and she cannot allow anyone to know them. To keep her secrets hidden, Victoria keeps everyone at distance, even her friends at LOST but Wade has had enough. After almost losing her in Shattered, he refuses to let her push him away. When a new case takes them to Savannah and Victoria’s past is questioned, she knows she will have to trust Wade even if it means revealing her secrets.

Torn was amazing and super-HOT! Victoria and Wade’s relationship built up really quickly but it was only expected considering their feelings developed in the previous book! Moreover, I think I’m not wrong when I say that this is NOT the end of the series. Eden adds two new members in the LOST team, Asher and his twin sister, Anna. The twins have their own secrets and I can’t wait to read their stories!

I really liked this book but I’d have loved to catch up with some of the previous couples as well, especially Gabe and Eve. Maybe we will get a chance in the next book!

ARC Review: Love Thy Enemy (Red Stone Security #13) by Katie Reus

Title: Love Thy Enemy
Author: Katie Reus
Series: Red Stone Security #13

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N
She refuses to trust him.

Red Stone Security employee Dominique Castle knows all too well that there are people in this world she just can't trust. After losing both her parents, Dominique keeps her distance from anyone tied to her past—especially the man she's hated for years. And Viktor Ivanov isn't going to change her mind about who he really is—no matter how determined the infuriatingly sexy Russian is.

He's determined to win her over.

She may hate him and not trust him, but Viktor is determined to crack through Dominique's icy exterior one way or another—even if it means taking the game into his own hands. With a past like Viktor's, he's made more than a few enemies along the way—enemies who'll stop at nothing to take him down. When Viktor realizes Dominique's life is in danger because of him, he’ll stop at nothing to protect her—whether she likes it or not. Now it's up to Dominique to trust the one man who's linked to the agony of her past. Can she find a way to love the enemy she always loathed?
I feel like it was just a month ago when Secret Obsession was released and we already have the #13 book in the Red Stone Security series.

Dominique is clever, loves her job at RSS and her friends, she is successful and beautiful but she does not have the people she loves the most, her parents. She is well aware that her father brought about their misfortunes but it was the devil himself that ruined them all! Dominique knows very well who to blame, Victor Ivanov and his father. It was his father that took everything from her, that made her an orphan. Victor’s father may be gone but as long as Victor, Dominique cannot forget what was taken from her. When she catches Victor’s eye though things change and it doesn’t take long to realize that Victor was never her enemy!

Dominique and Victor’s story was great! I liked a lot of things about their story but there was one thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars! Dominique claims that she has hated Victor and his father for a long time, years actually, she blames both of them for her mother’s death. However, at the same time, she already appears quite taken with Victor despite blaming him. It seems so contradictory and a bit confusing. I could feel her pain and anger towards Victor’s family but one kiss is all it takes for her to forget everything! Really?! It was actually more than that! She was the one who went after him time and time again, not to take her revenge or anything but to pursue a romantic relationship. I don’t have a problem with strong heroines but with her and Victor’s history their romance seemed rushed and unrealistic.

I especially liked Victor’s half-brother, Abram and their assistant, Lucy! Their relationship was HOT!

I have no idea who is next but I hope the next book will be a bit longer.

Title: Wicked Burn
Author: Rebecca Zanetti
Series: Realm Enforcers #3

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo

Includes the brand new Dark Protectors novella, 'Talen'!
Simone Brightston knows she can beat the rap her enemies are pinning on her. An Irish witch is nobody's fool, and she didn't get to her position on the high council without serious power. But her cousins want her to hide out—and they somehow convinced her arch nemesis to play getaway driver.
Of all the men she's known, Nikolaj Veis is the hardest to intimidate. With his demon-dark eyes and his inscrutable beauty, he's as desirable as he is dangerous. And he knows better than to underestimate Simone. So when he pulls up on a roaring bike and tells her to climb on or fight it out, she grabs a handful of jacket and holds on tight. Running from the law may not be the smartest plan. But when it comes to Nick, hot pursuit and a blazing fast ride are exactly what Simone's looking for . . .
OMG! Holy cow!

Ever since the Dark Protectors series and ever since we got introduced to the infamous powerful witch Simon Brightston and Nikolaj Veis, a demon who also happens to be Zane’s right hand, I knew I wanted to read their story!

What we know: Simone and Nick used to be together but something happened to force them apart and they are now each other’s nemesis. Their history will blow you away. Just WOW! I never saw that coming. Simone and Nick were always meant to be together and even though circumstances forced them apart, they can now enjoy “forever” together. If only things were that simple. Simone is not ready to forgive or forget the demon who broke her heart, his betrayal still hurts her but she would rather die before she admits that!

Circumstances forced them apart and circumstances will bring them together. As a member of coven 9, the high council of the witches, Simone is known by all and not quite loved by all. When damning evidence turns up against her and the council demands her death, Nick will be there to save her even if she does not want to be saved!

Wicked Burn was full of twists and surprises and non-stop action and romance and lots of hot sex scenes! This is the book, were the supernatural world as we know it, will change! There are some HUGE surprises! Even the end, while not a cliffhanger, will leave you at the edge of your seat!

The secondary characters, I just loved! We get to see lots of scenes with Bear *look at for him*, Adam and Alexandra’s sister Victoria, some other couples and, of course, Zane makes an appearance or two! I’s totally obsessed with this book! The highlight of the whole book: there is a bonus story featuring Cara and Talen, the first couple we meet in the Dark Protector series.

I’m really hoping that Adam and Victoria are next! I kind of already see them together, especially with their chemistry!

I really can’t wait for the next book, Wicked Kiss!

Title: The Player

Series: The Game Maker #3

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo
A madman with a shadowed past . . .
In the City of Sin, Dmitri Sevastyan finds her, Victoria Valentine—sexy, vulnerable, and in need of a protector. Obsession takes root deep inside him. Despite a history tainted with violation and betrayal, he will stop at nothing to possess her.

A grifter with nothing to lose . . .
Descended from a long line of con artists, twenty-four-year-old Victoria, a.k.a Vice, needs the score of a lifetime to keep her loved ones safe. She sets her sights on gorgeous and rich Dmitri Sevastyan. Even as the irresistible Russian toys with her body and mind, he tempts her heart.
Love is the ultimate wildcard.
When Vice and her associates maneuver Dmitri into a hasty Vegas wedding, he refuses to protect himself with a pre-nup, trusting her with all that he has. But can she trust him? As secrets unfold, the newlyweds share days of doubts and nights of the wickedest pleasures. Yet once Vice discovers her husband’s past, will she stay to fight for her marriage or cut her losses and run?
OMG! Holy Cow! I just can’t even!

I don’t know if this is the last book in the Game Maker series but the last and youngest Sevastyan brother has found his own HEA and boy was it HOT!

If you’ve read the previous book, The Master, Maksimilian’s story then you already know some of Dmitri’s tragic childhood. Dmitri’s behavior, in the previous book, is erratic to say the least. He is still fighting the demons of his past, still angry. After Lucia’s injury and his brother’s concern about her, he realizes that his brother has finally moved on from their traumatic past and has managed to find happiness. Maybe there’s a chance for Dmitri as well…

Victoria Valentine and her family are grifters, aka con artists with heavily emphasis on artists! They study, they plan and then they take. If you don’t deserve it, they won’t target you. If you are on their list, then you have already been assessed and have been found guilty. However, the Valentines are in big trouble after they *accidentally* targeted the very wrong kind of people and now they must pay, literally pay! The Valentines will do anything to protect each other, even target an innocent!

But, who is the player and who is the pray?

Insanely AMAZING! Mind blowing! I can’t think the perfect words to describe this book! It was emotional, beyond HOT (well Dmitri is learning from the BEST), sweet but not too sweet, fast-paced and it had one seriously huge TWIST. I loved Dmitri and Victoria as a couple. Following their journey was one heck of a ride but I’d (and will) do it again!

The player offers glimpses of the two previous couples: Aleks & Natalie and Maksim & Lucia. That was super cool. Dmitri was amazing but Maksim still remains my fav Sevastyan brother! I also loved Lucia and Dmitri’s relationship. I think what happened in the previous book, really brought things into perspective for Dmitri. It made him realize that he does want to maintain a good relationship with his brothers and the women they have chosen.

Victoria’s family was just awesome! They were so fun and I loved all of them. I wish we get to see more of her sister, Karin, especially after the bomb Dmitri dropped about her baby’s father. Victoria’s brother, Benji seemed to go along with Jess really great too!

The third, and hopefully not the final, book in the Game Maker series, will rock your world! Just go read it!

He’s the security she’s always needed.Since she moved to Miami, Raegan Taylor has desired Ford Burke–a sexy and rugged cop. He’s everything she’s ever wanted. Unfortunately for Raegan, Ford’s kept his distance. But when a night out goes extremely wrong, his protective instincts kick into high gear, and he finds himself fighting for her in more ways than one.
She’s exactly what he was trying to avoid.Once Raegan and Ford grow closer, the harder they start to fall for each other. But Ford’s past stirs up feelings he just can’t control, threatening to destroy everything they’ve worked for. And when he screws up, he may lose more than just his one shot with her.
And now someone’s ready to ruin it all.Someone wants Raegan—and if he can’t have her—nobody can. He’s waiting. He’s watching. He’s lurking. Ready to strike. He’ll make her his. He’ll take down anyone who gets in his way—even a cop.
Secret Obsession is the twelfth book in the Red Stone Security series and it offers not one but two parallel romances. The main focus, though, are Raegan Taylor, Harrison, Grant and Porter’s cousin and sexy cop, Ford Burke.

Ford cannot believe that the one woman whom he desires is the Caldwell’s cousin. As if that wasn’t enough, she’s a decade younger than him and the fact that he can’t seem to control himself around her, makes Ford believe that Raegan is a dream that he is never going to enjoy.

Raegan may be the Caldwell’s cousin but she won’t let them control her life. Working at RSS with Athena is something she didn’t expect to be doing but she has come to love her job. She likes everyone at RSS and her job offers her more than she would ever need. But something is missing and she knows exactly what, Ford. Even though the sexy cop won’t admit his feelings, his actions say a lot. So, when Ford saves her from a night gone wrong, Raegan knows it’s a now or never opportunity.

Secret obsession was amazing! I really liked Ford and Reagan as a couple. I loved the fact that we got to see and hear from couples from the previous books in the series and I especially loved the scenes with Mara and Harrison (they still remain my fav couple). We also get to meet Raegan’s friends, Ruby and Dominique. This book has two romances and the other, while parallel, is a bit short-ish but still really great! We got to see Ruby and Montez get together and how their relationship developed and everything and it was so cute!

As for Dominique, worry not. Katie recently announced that she’s getting her own story with a character we briefly meet here. Her book, Love Thy Enemy, will be out early June, so make sure to read this one before the next one comes out!

Another great read by Katie Reus!

Review: Better Off Undead (Blood and Moonlight #2) by Cynthia Eden

Title: Better Off Undead
Author: Cynthia Eden
Series: Blood and Moonlight #2

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N
Detective Jane Hart is just getting used to paranormal life in New Orleans. Monsters are real, and she’s the lucky cop who has to deal with them on a daily basis. Werewolves, vampires, witches, and demons—she has to face them all and keep their paranormal madness in check.

When a killer targets human men—and leaves their bodies scattered in local cemeteries--Jane suspects she may be looking at the crimes of a werewolf gone rogue. In order to hunt down the beast, Jane once again teams up with her werewolf lover, alpha Aidan Locke. But Aidan has been keeping secrets from Jane, dark secrets that will destroy her world.

Because Jane isn’t the hunter on her latest investigation. She’s the prey. And when a vampire attack leaves her helpless, the woman that Jane was before will vanish. She’ll become the one thing she fears most and Aidan…

Her fierce lover may have to become her executioner.
Freaking loved it! I can't wait for the next one! I'm in love with these two!

Better off undead is the second book in the Blood and Moonlight series and it continues Jane and Aidan’s story. I wouldn’t recommend reading this one without reading the first book!

This book picks up almost exactly where the previous left off. There are still secrets waiting to be unfold. While Jane and Aidan are trying to balance their relationship, their worlds collide. Jane has done a great job at keeping the supernatural in order but how good a job can you actually do when you’re a mortal fighting against supernatural creatures? Jane is about to discover that her mortality comes at a price and playing “hero” has consequences.

Better off undead was mind-blowing! I expected something like that to happen but OMG the author did an incredible job with them. Since I’m trying really hard not to give anything away, I’m just going to say that the second book in the series changes everything. I’m also loving the dynamics between Annette, the Voodoo Queen and Paris, Aidan’s second in command. There’s definitely something going on there and I hope it works out.

I really can’t wait to read Bitter Blood. I’m so into Jane and Aidan’s world and I’m not ready to let them go yet!

Review: Never Never: Part Three (Never Never #3) by Colleen Hoover, Tarryn Fisher

Title: Never Never: Part Three
Authors: Colleen HooverTarryn Fisher
Series: Never Never #3

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N
New York Times bestselling authors Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher are back with the much-anticipated final installment in the Never Never novella series.
Together, Silas Nash and Charlize Wynwood must look deeper into the past to find out who they were and who they want to be. With time ticking down, the couple are in a race to find the answers they need before they lose everything. Can they regain what they once had? And will it restore who they once were?
Not exactly what I had in mind but still amazing!

The third part in the Never Never trilogy concludes the mystery surrounding Charlie and Silas’ lives.

I was waiting for this conclusion for quite some time and although I wasn’t impressed with the outcome I can’t say that I hated it! I know that a lot of readers were disappointed with the explanation provided for Charlie and Silas’ loss of memory and it might have been over the top but I just can’t judge the book as a whole just from its ending!

Having said that, I loved the first two parts of the trilogy and I even found the first half of the third part enjoyable. Our two protagonists wake up once again but something has changed this time. Although Charlie doesn’t realize it, Silas still remembers the past 48 hours. Why that is, he may not know but he intends to find out if he is to help Charlie break this circle.

Once again the book flows beautifully. Fast paced with Charlie and Silas fighting against time to stop whatever it is that is happening to them. The big questions of the book are answered pretty early in the book so you’re left wondering now what?! Fear not, the mystery may have been solved but Silas and Charlie will have to help each other “heal” so they will never have to face something like this again.

So, yeah, did enjoy the trilogy even though the explanation for the memory loss wasn’t convincing but to tell you the truth almost everything would have been unconvincing! I especially liked Silas’ guesses: an alien abduction, a curse, time travel or twin brain tumors. As fun as some of these may sound, they are still hard to believe as was the actually explanation provided.

All in all, the end wasn’t that bad. We still get to meet Charlie and Silas, we got to experience their unusual memory loss and we got to witness their HEA. At the end of the day that’s all that matter to me.

Review: Pucked Over (Pucked #3) by Helena Hunting

Title: Pucked Over
Author: Helena Hunting
Series: Pucked #3

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo
Lily LeBlanc isn’t versed in the art of casual sex, but after seven years in an on-again, off-again relationship, she’s definitely willing to give it a shot. And who better to try it with than her best friend’s boyfriend’s best friend? What could possibly go wrong? Nothing at all.

NHL player, Randy Ballistic, lives up to his last name on the ice and in the bedroom. His best friend and teammate has recently given up the puck bunnies and traded them in for a real girlfriend. And she just happens to have a seriously feisty, extra-hot best friend on the rebound. Randy’s more than happy to be Lily’s spring board back into the dating scene.

Casual sex is only casual until those pesky things called emotions get involved. Once that happens, someone’s bound to gets pucked over.

I don’t know what the deal with the Pucked series is but I can’t seem to stop reading these books. They are seriously addictive!

Enter Randy Ballistic, super-HOT NHL player and Miller’s best friend. Meet Lily LeBlanc, Sunny’s best friend. Having just walked out of a seven years relationship, Lily is not really looking for anything serious and there is no one who qualifies better for the position of a no strings attached relationship than Randy. Randy loves women but as soon as feelings get involved, he’s out. Afraid to end up like his father and his inability to commit, Randy prefers not to get too close with any woman. And that’s exactly what Lily is looking for!

Keep thing casual and the moments feelings get involved they both walk away. How hard can it be?

Pucked over was PUCKING awesome! Lily is not the kind of girl Randy is used to but they can’t seem to stop their “bathroom encounters”, aka hot, steamy, hook ups. Lily and Randy were two amazingly awesome characters who you’re definitely going to fall in love with!

I’m hoping Lance is next! I’m really looking forward to reading his story especially after what went done with Tash!

Review:
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The third book in the Shaken Dirty series tells Wyatt and Poppy’s story!

The Shaken Dirty band has had enough of Wyatt’s addiction and so has Wyatt. He hopes that his third time in rehab may do the trick. Well it might as well, since the moment Poppy Germaine enters his life, Wyatt is to become addicted to a different kind of drug, love.

Fade into you, was a realistic book about love but mainly about the temptation to relapse after a fight with addiction to heroine. It’s hard to fight something like that alone but Wyatt has a lot of different people who really care about him and are not afraid to show him the lengths they would go to keep him heroine-free!

Poppy and Wyatt were so interesting characters. Each had their own share of secrets and demons of their past, especially Wyatt. The tension between them was HOT but it was not until they were completely honest with each other that I felt there was no boundary between them. That’s the moment I fell in love with them!

Fade into you was an incredible book. It was hot, it was emotional, and it was realistic. Wolff is an amazing author and I can’t wait to read more books from her!

Excerpt #3

For a man who’d spent years, decades, running from his emotions, it was a strange place to find himself. It scared him.

She scared him.

Eyes still closed, he laid down the first of the drum fills, adding a few extra flourishes because that’s how he was hearing it in his head. Played through the whole song from memory, then did it again and again, embellishing it a little more each time through.

It didn’t take long for his arms and pecs to start aching—it had been too long since he’d played the drums on a daily basis—but he played through it, pounding away at the skins with everything he had in him.

Fourth time through the song, he switched to “Closer,” then to “In the A.M.,” then to “Deified.” By the time he’d run through those a couple of times, his biceps were burning, his hands throbbing. And still he didn’t stop.

Instead, he switched on the recorder he always kept next to his drum kit and started wailing away, playing the beat that had been in his head since he’d seen Poppy waiting for him in her doorway last night, arms open and face welcoming. The melody had started then, in the back of his head, and by the time he’d had her up against the wall it had been a towering crescendo of drumbeats that he couldn’t ignore even if he’d wanted to.

Which he hadn’t. It had been too long since music had burned inside him like that.

He played the song through the way he heard it, keeping a fast thirty-two-beat rhythm on the hi-hat while he worked the snare, the bass, and the floor tom in alternating rhythms. It sounded good, really good, and as he banged out a long, elaborate fill on the toms and crash cymbals, he knew he was onto something.

Though all he was doing was laying down the beat, he could hear the song in his head so clearly. Jared coming in with a quiet but pure guitar presence while Quinn took front and center with his keyboards. Bass—whoever the fuck that turned out to be—would hang back with Wyatt, playing low to underscore. And Ryder…fuck, Ryder’s voice would own this song. He would destroy it. Just the thought sent excitement rioting through him.

Usually, Wyatt and Quinn were the music guys, while Ryder and Jared did most of the lyrics. Every once in a while, though, a song would come to him fully formed, like “Seventeen Again” had, an early version of the lyrics tearing through his head even as he pounded away at the drums.

This song was like that, the words running through his brain like a rain-swollen river, pouring out of him as fast and powerfully as the music had. Even knowing they weren’t perfect, he sang them aloud, let the recorder get every syllable.

When it was over, he ran through the song over and over again while everything was still fresh in his mind. Playing and singing, singing and playing, until his shirt was drenched in sweat and his arms felt like they were going to fall off.

And still he played. Still he wailed away at the drums like the demons of hell were after him. Or worse, like the sins of his past had finally caught up to him after all the years he’d run and all the drugs he’d used to keep them at bay.

And maybe they had. Maybe they had.

Since he couldn’t do anything about it, he played instead.

Long after sweat rolled into his eyes and poured down his face.

Long after his shoulders and biceps and pecs cramped up.

Long, long after blisters formed between his fingers.

He played and played and played, like these drums were the only thing standing between him and hell. And like getting this one song right was his only chance at salvation.

At one point, the blister on his right index finger cracked open and started to bleed. He grabbed one of the clean towels he always kept next to the kit, tore a strip off it, and kept playing. When his left index finger followed suit a couple of minutes later, he did the same thing. And then he played through that, too.

The pain was there, his nerve endings sending agonized alerts to his brain, but he ignored them. Compartmentalized them. Put them in a part of his brain he didn’t need to access to play, and then concentrated on the music. On the beat. Right now, it was the only thing that mattered.

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Tracy Wolff collects books, English degrees and lipsticks and has been known to forget where--and sometimes who--she is when immersed in a great novel. At six she wrote her first short story--something with a rainbow and a prince--and at seven she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. By ten she'd read everything in the young adult and classics sections of her local bookstore, so in desperation her mom started her on romance novels. And from the first page of the first book, Tracy knew she'd found her life-long love. Now an English professor at her local community college, she writes contemporary romance and erotic romance as Tracy Wolff, paranormal romance and urban fantasy as Tessa Adams and young adult novels as Tracy Deebs.
