Insanity  (Asylum #1)

By Lauren Hammond

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"No...

I don't care what the staff tells me.

I. Am. Not. Crazy." -Addy

I Think that words aren't enough to describe what what I really feel for this book.

Insanity is a stupendous novel and a real challenge to readers. There were times that it was so difficult to tell the difference between what's real and what's not.Especially the final chapters were so vague and hazy.

Addy had the perfect life. That is until her mother "left" when Addy was 10 years old.Her father became an alcoholic and began abusing her both physically and emotionally.I'm utterly disgusted by him.He would beat her down and call her names and all because she looked like her mother. The thruth is that when I finally read what had really happened, the only thing that came to my mind was what a pathetic excuse of a man he was,a lowlife.

The story had many twists or so I thought because the main character,Addy, was the narrator and anything that happened before and during her life in the asylum was described by her.Although we don't get to see why she got to the asylum,we see some pieces of her past with Damien, who I can't say loved but surely liked. He is so romantic. Here's a taste of him "Addy, living one day without you would never be for the best. I want you every minute of every day. Forever. I love you.”

She is so obsessed with him that even in the asylum all about she thnks is him.I think that what she saw when she was just 17 has stuck with her even though she has forgotten everything else.

She seems to believe that her life hasn't progressed since Damien's horrible death but it did. She's so lost,I don't know why as the book doesn't elaborate what she did in order to end up in the asylum, which is so messed up.The only thing that I liked of it was Dr. Watson who later reveals his true identity. His so patient and caring.I bet no man in the world would do what he did for Addy. He's awesome!!!

I loved this book. It's just insanely awesome!I definitely recommend it to anyone and I can't wait to read the folllowing book,White Walls.

Blurb:

Sometimes love...can drive you crazy.
Adelaide Carmichael and Damien Allen couldn't be more opposite.
Adelaide's mother abandoned her when she was ten years old, leaving her to be raised by her abusive and alcoholic father.
Damien on the other hand came from a wealthy family, was a local celebrity, and seemed to have a bright future ahead of him.
Despite their differences, Adelaide and Damien were young, wild, and fiercely in love.
And they had a plan.
They were going to run away.
Be together forever.
And their plan was set in motion, until tragedy struck and for some reason, Adelaide wound up in The Oakhill Institution for the insane.
Adelaide has no idea what she did to wind up at Oakhill, but she knows one thing for sure...
She wants out.
And after Damien follows her there to aid her in escaping, Adelaide slowly begins putting together the pieces of her memory that are missing.
And it doesn't take Adelaide long to figure out that sometimes...
That one true love never dies.
