Books I didn't like:

I managed to read the whole Covenant series by J.A. and I totally loved it! I actually had the books for awhile now but I got distracted by other books. I didn't like Looking for Alaska for the simple reason that I thought it would be different. I'm now on the second book on both The Cocktail series and the Neighbor from Hell series and I"m loving them!

Release Day, Review & Giveaway: Quiet Angel by Prescott Lane

Title: Quiet Angel
Author: Prescott Lane
Series: None

Release Date: Feb. 24, 2015

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon

We all have that someone we can’t forget, the summer it all began, and the sleepless nights wondering what went wrong.
For Gage Montgomery, that someone is Layla Baxter. When he was 18, he took one look at the chocolate-haired bookworm with porcelain skin and knew his life would never be the same. But it all came crashing down when Layla suddenly and mysteriously disappeared from St. Simons Island -- leaving him with nothing but her angel wing pendent around his neck. For 12 long years, Gage couldn’t shake what happened, if he’s the one to blame, wondering where Layla might be. When their paths finally cross, he’s determined to get the answers he’s spent his life searching for -- and to get the girl, too. Quiet Angel is a story of hope, survival, and lost love made new again.
Quite angel is the first book I read by Prescott Lane and it was amazing!

One summer, two people, one love!

Gage Montgomery was 18 when he first saw the one that would haunt him forever. Layla, a brown haired bookworm was just 16 when she met Gage, the boy next door. It was supposed to be a regular summer just before college for Gage but one girl changed everything for him. Gage and Layla fell for each other. The next thing Gage knows is that Layla is gone. No matter how hard Gage tried to find her, he never managed to locate her. Until fate brought them back together.

Now, 12 years later Gage and Layla can finally have what they dreamed of having when they were teens. Can they really though?

Time changes people. Gage has been blaming himself for Layla’s disappearance for a very long time. His feelings for her may have changed but he still holds on to the only thing he has from her, a wing pendent. He’s confused but above everything he wants to know why Layla left.

When Layla decided to leave, things weren’t hard only for Gage. She was having a harder time. The only thing that kept her going was the thought that her angel was protecting her. She has so many secrets that she kept hidden.

I really liked the book. It was a tough subject the author chose to work with but it came out nicely. In quite angel nothing was rushed. It had a nice flow and great characters. Layla was a strong person who tried to improve her life after a tragic past. Gage’s life changed the moment he met Layla. Her disappearance affected her deeply. He was mad at himself, at her and that made things complicated when they came across each other again.

One thing I didn’t like was Gage’s immature way of handling things. You can’t buy everything with money and you also can’t “imprison” someone just to keep them safe. What I did like though was how things turned out.

Moreover, I liked Poppy, Layla’s bff was so much fun to have around.

A story of a second chance in love. Gage and Layla’s journey will definitely touch you. There is a bit drama, some misunderstandings and trust issues but ultimately their story was captivating.

Totally recommended!

ARC Review: Beyond the Darkness (Darkness #3) by Katie Reus

Title: Beyond the Darkness
Author: Katie Reus
Series: Darkness #3

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Now that she has her freedom, she’s not giving it up.Dragon shifter Keelin Petronilla spent centuries in forced hibernation dreaming of one thing: freedom. Now she’s living life on her terms—she’s ditched her clan for an unruly wolf pack, she tends bar for a half-demon, and she’s loving it…until a powerful supernatural being targets her. She intends to handle the mysterious attacks on her own…without the help of dragon Alpha Bran Devlin. Sure, he’s sexy in that hot, scowling possessive way, but Keelin wants to live her own life in her own way.
Now that he’s found his mate, he’s not letting her go.Former black ops agent Bran Devlin is a born dragon Alpha and leader of a fierce clan. Getting mated was never part of his plan—until a feisty dragon princess gets under his skin in a big way. The hell of it is, she doesn’t want a mate; she just wants to have a good time. He plays along, but when a dark and powerful being marks her for death, he’s determined to stay by her side in spite of her protests. Now that he’s found his mate, he means to keep her safe no matter what the cost…even if he has to risk it all.
Finally!!!

The third book in the Darkness series by the amazing Katie Reus, tells the story of two dragon shifters. If you’ve read Taste of Darkness, then you already know Keelin, Drake’s sister and Bran, the alpha of his clan. While I was reading the previous book, Taste of Darkness, I really wanted to find out more about them, especially Keelin and Bran as a couple, and now I have finally gotten the story I was waiting for.

After been guilted by her parents into going into hibernation for a very long time, aka centuries, Keelin wakes up to fall in love with the modern world. She has been “babied” all of her life and the only thing she desires, is her freedom. As the youngest child in her family and after losing a child, her parents were overprotective. No longer though!

From the first glimpse, he knew she was his!

Bran may be the alpha of his clan but everyone knows that it was never a position he wanted to have. He never thought the moment would come to have his mate. What he doesn’t know though, is that Keelin has no intention to mate now that she has found her freedom! Bran is on a mission to win her heart and failure is not an option.

Beyond the Darkness was enthralling! Bran and Keelin had a deep connection and a sizzling chemistry. Keelin wanted to spread her wings and she did by “taking a break” from her clan and moving in with her brother’s clan, the Stavros pack. Although her reasons were pretty good, I have to admit that she totally misjudged Bran and his motives. Bran wanted indeed to protect her but he would never “suffocate” her. He treated he as an equal because that’s what he saw in her, his other half.

When a dangerous threat surfaces, Bran will do everything to keep her safe.

Just as every Katie Reus book, this one was amazing. I loved Bran and Keelin’s romance but what I loved more was the secondary characters and especially Bo and Nyx (two new characters). We also got to see many old characters such as Finn and Lyra, Vega, Drake and Victoria. They were all incredible and a lot of fun to read.

Another stunning read. You won’t regret meeting Bran and Keelin!

Totally recommended!

Review: Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress #1) by Jeaniene Frost

Title: Halfway to the Grave
Author: Jeaniene Frost
Series: Night Huntress #1

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo

Flirting with the Grave...
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father - the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.
In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner - are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
“So do you remember this place?"

"Hard to forget. This is where you tried to kill me. You were so nervous, you kept blushing. Never had someone try to stake me who blushed so much.”
This is the first book I read by Jeaniene Frost and I was immensely surprised to find out that I loved it!

Halfway to the grave has been sitting for a very long time to my to-read shelf on Goodreads. The main reason for not reading it was because I thought that it was like many other paranormal vamp books. Thankfully, I was wrong.

Cat Crawfield, a 22 year old vampire hunter, isn’t your average human. That’s partly because she isn’t quite a human and partly because she’s a self- trained hunter. The truth is that Cat is a Halfling, half vampire and half human. Cat has always been different, she just didn’t know it. When she was 16, her mother revealed the truth to her: 16 years ago, Cat’s mother was brutally attacked by a vamp and later discovered that she was pregnant. After finally learning the truth, Cat decides to avenge her mother by going after her kind. Her “tasks” are always successful, until she’s caught by a vampire bounty hunter.

Enter Bones, a vampire who hunts his own kind1 Bones is known by many manes but is feared by one. When he encounters Cat, Bones first thought is to kill her, thinking that she’s just a human used by another vamp as a lure to kill vamps. So, when Cat admits that she’s a halfling, Bones is reluctant to believe her. But what he can’t ignore is Cat’s unique set of abilities.

Above everything, Cat wants to capture and kill he father. When Bones proposes a deal to her: help him capture his prey and in return he will deliver her father to her, Cat can’t but agree.

I can’t believe how wrong I was about this book! I thought it was another vampire hunter meets vampire hunter and fireworks explode but I was wrong (and I’m glad). Cat and Bones were two extraordinary characters, who finally met their match. I loved their journey. Everything about this book was just so original. The way the main characters met, the deal they struck, Cat’s training (I call that Bones’s playtime because those scenes were hilarious and very seductive) and also I loved how Cat changed her way of thinking about her kind (she thought every vamp was evil but she found out that Bones was no normal vamp).

Cat and Bones were a powerful couple, off the charts sexy, madly in love and beyond funny. I loved how Bones went from professional to lover in minutes and the way he made Cat feel. She no longer felt like an outsider who doesn’t belong but instead she begun embracing her vamp side.

Full of non-stop action, romance, humor and two great main characters, Halfway to the grace will captivate you.

Totally recommended!

Author: Abbi Glines
Expected publication: April 7th 2015

I had an urge to fix all her problems. Which was stupid. She was doing fine without me. But something about those big eyes…
Mase Colt-Manning has always preferred his humble life as a Texas rancher to his birthright as the son of a legendary rock star. In fact, he rarely visits his father’s rarefied world in Rosemary Beach, especially if it means bunking at his vile half-sister Nan’s house—until one visit leads to a chance encounter with a young, gorgeous house maid who awakens him with her off-key but spirited imitation of a country music star…
Reese Ellis finally has her freedom. After escaping a lifetime of abuse from her parents and classmates for an undiagnosed learning disorder, she seizes the opportunity to be a house maid to some of the richest families in Rosemary Beach. But her job is in jeopardy when she causes an accident at the home of her most important client, Nan Dillon. When a hot, half-naked stranger with a cowboy’s swagger comes to her rescue, she’s intrigued—then afraid once he shows his own interest. Reese has never met a trustworthy man in her life. Review: Want Me (Dark Obsession #2) by Cynthia Eden

Title: Want Me
Author: Cynthia Eden
Series: Dark Obsession #2

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

She doesn’t play it safe…
Sophie Sarantos has a weakness for dangerous men. She doesn’t like safe lovers—she likes men with a wild, rough edge. But Sophie may have attracted a lover who is too dangerous, even for her. Someone is stalking Sophie, slipping into her home, watching her day and night. The stranger seems to know all of Sophie’s darkest secrets, secrets that should never be revealed.
Out of options, Sophie turns to ex-solider Lex Jensen for protection. Lex is part owner of VJS Protection, Inc., and Sophie hires him as her bodyguard. She thinks Lex is one of the “good guys” out there, but she couldn’t be more wrong.

He doesn’t play at all…
Lex has his own secrets. Dark, deadly secrets. And as his feelings for Sophie grow, Lex knows that he is going to have to stop pretending to be a gentleman and, instead, he’ll have to show Sophie who he really is. A man trained to kill. A man too used to evil. A man who will take any risk…as long as he can claim Sophie.
Because there is one thing that Lex wants in this world…one person he desires above all others…Sophie. And no one will hurt her, not on his watch.
By now most of you must be aware of my Cynthia Eden addiction. I’m in love with her books, her writing, her main characters and her style!

Want me is the second book in Cynthia’s new series, dark Obsession. In case you haven’t read the first book, which I definitely recommend reading, then you should you know that Lex works as a bodyguard in V.J.S. protection (he’s actually the J in V.J.S.) and he’s really damn good at his job. A few weeks ago, he saved Sophie Sarantos from her gas filled house and so it’s only natural to wonder what the hell she’s doing in his office!

Sophie knows that in her profession she can never be safe, especially considering that she defends the bad guys. You see Sophie is a lawyer, a very good one, but the better you are the more enemies you have. Someone is after her and he won’t stop until he has her…

I think this one was even better than the first book. Lex and Sophie were so different and I believe that it was their differences that created the sizzling chemistry between them. Lex was the protector but Sophie was the survivor. Both of them were! They both had such rough pasts that left little to be desired. They both however, managed to leave their pasts behind and move one. But did they really?

Truth is they didn’t. Sophie is stuck in the past while Lex carries the scars from his past. When they find each other, their reactions are so different. Lex wants to have her but Sophie is afraid of her own feelings and chooses to stay away. In the end, they both give in.

I love Cynthia. This book is one of the reasons that make me love her writing. I love romances but Cynthia is not only about romance. She’s about suspense, major twists and turns, unexpected ends and villains and of course her sex scenes.

I can’t believe how much I enjoyed this one. Things between Lex and Sophie were building up from the previous book and in this book they just exploded.

A great addition to the series!

Definitely recommended!

Review: Rock Chick Rescue (Rock Chick #2) by Kristen Ashley

Title: Rock Chick Rescue
Author: Kristen Ashley
Series: Rock Chick #2

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo
Jet McAlister has a secret. Eddie Chavez has the hots for Jet (not to mention Eddie’s just plain hot). Jet has too many problems to realize that Eddie’s interested. Eddie loses patience when Jet ends her waitressing shift at a strip club with a knife at her throat. Since Eddie’s a cop, he figures he can help. Since Jet’s used to solving everyone’s problems she doesn’t want Eddie’s help.
Throw in a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet’s ne’er do well father, his ne’er do well friend, Bear, Bear’s long-suffering, chain-smoking wife Lavonne and the crew from Rock Chick and you’ve got Rock Chick Rescue.
Rock Chick Rescue takes you on a wild ride with Jet, Eddie and the gang as they wrestle bad guys in a bagel shop, hit Denver’s backstreet poker tables (with big hair), and help the strippers at Smithie’s take down a would-be murderer.
Through this, Jet’s got to learn that even when life made you give up your dreams, you can still end up with the (hot) guy. Eddie’s got to rescue Jet from a bad man (so he can do better things with her) and teach her that some dreams can come true.
“Don’t ignore me while I’m trying to break up with you!”
Second book in the Rock Chick series and the series is still burning hot. So much action and humor packed in a book.

Eddie Chavez is hot,, hot, hot but when it comes to ladies, he’s a bit slow. Jet, a worker at Indy’s bookstore, has a huge crush on Eddie for a long time, but won’t do anything about it. So every time Eddie comes to the shop, which is quite often, Jet acts weird around him and this creates a misunderstanding between them.

When Jet’s father pops into town for a “visit”, trouble follows and Jet has no one to rely on but Eddie and Lee’s guys.

I had one big problem with this book named, Jet. When I started reading the book, I really liked her. A strong woman who tries to take care of her mother (who recently had a stroke) and her sister (who’s in LA living the dream and who knows nothing about Jet’s financial problems). Her father shows up only when it’s convenient for him and thus Jet has no one but herself to hold responsible for her mother, the bills, the car, the house. I felt really bad for her.

So when Eddie decided to help her with the troubles her father brought home, I expected she would accept his offer. Instead, she kept everyone at a distance, not asking for any help (even though she needed it).

Eddie on the other hand, I loved. He was so sweet, protective and all he wanted was to take some of the weight off her shoulders. Was that really bad? I don’t think it was. He was an alpha male and not at all the man Jet thought he would be (she thought that he wasn’t going to stick around when the danger was finally gone! Needless to say, she was wrong!)

Once Jet got over her fears, she was an enjoyable character.

Rock Chick Rescue was definitely action packed, had a bit of suspense, lots of humor and some great new and old characters (Smithie, Daisy and Trixie)

I hope to see more of Eddie and Jet in the series. I want to see their relationship develop further (and a more confident Jet!)

Totally recommended!
