Sneak peek
Prologue

Maude Laurent had remained locked up in a basement in France for sixteen years and had been on lockdown in Manhattan for the last sixteen hours.

She pondered for some time on whether being locked up was all she was good for. On the fifteenth hour, she rested. And on the sixteenth hour she awoke, famished for edible forms of French sanity. French rolls, French somethings, French anythings.

Manhattan was madness, Maude was in Manhattan, Maude was in madness.

She threw an irate “humpf” at the celestial blue bar and at the crowd of paparazzi scrambling underneath. Teasing her misery by displaying a large, sunny grin, the sky refused to dissolve into misty tears to satisfy Maude’s stormy mood.

After having brushed her rebellious curls into a bun, the young girl let her reflection peer back at her through the oval mirror. Her chocolate brown skin glowed under the flirtatious ray of light dancing around the room, and her almond-shaped eyes glowered with defiance at her reflection.

“Today, I’m breaking free,” she stated, like many optimistic celebrities had done before her.

Easier said than done. But when she stared into the face of the gathered crowd, Maude had to drag her courage, tangled in seaweeds of cowardice, before she surfaced into light. Microphones. Cameras shoved in her face with unhinged eagerness. They’d waited hours on brownstone steps and now demanded answers to their questions.

Had Matt left Lindsey Linton for Maude?

Were Maude and Matt an item?

What was his relationship to Lindsey Linton?

Was Maude going out with Thomas Bradfield or Matt?

Was Matt coming on tour with her?

Teenage celebrities like Maude were supposed to revel in limelight anyway, even when that light glared down on splattered, juicy scandals.

Lips licking with anticipation. Fingers snapping. Cameras zooming. Beads of sweat falling off like shards of glass.

A rivalry between two top female singers over the same guy? Such a contention would get ugly soon, and they would be there to film it.

Zoom in on her distraught face!

If they pushed Maude far enough, they might even get an angry outburst from her on camera . . .

Maude Laurent pushed through the paparazzi as futilely as a flower trying to escape a swarm of bees and elbowed her way to the dark sedan waiting for her in front of her house. She pushed back the sunglasses. They made her face small and vulnerable, and she wished they held an unknown propriety, a secret ability rendering her invisible from prying, journalistic eyes.

She shut the door firmly, leaned her head against the window, and rubbed her temples, wanting to ease her weariness with the simple gesture.

“Where to?” Rob, her driver asked.

Maude hesitated a second.

“Soulville Tower,” she answered.

French somethings would have to wait.

Two days ago, her life had been perfect. After the joy of discovering she would never have to live with her foster family again, she’d celebrated her cousin’s twelfth birthday. Two days ago, she’d been preparing to leave for her tour with Matt and James Baldwin, her uncle. Two days ago she’d had fun with her newfound family. Two days ago, Matt and her were planning their first official date. Two days ago, New York had been her home, her haven, her heaven.

Today, this French girl couldn’t wait to get out of New York.

Could she, Maude Laurent, be accused of cowardice? She often boasted she never ran away from a challenge. But then, that was before her life had been plastered all over Page Six. Of course she was ecstatic her debut album was a success, thrilled when someone recognized and stopped her in the street. Ever since the release of her first hit single, “Betrayed but Not Broken,” her rise to fame had been continuous, a fast, thrilling ride towards stardom. She’d been called “the voice of today’s generation” and “a teen phenomenon.” So many flattering associations, metaphors, and superlatives placed next to her name, she couldn’t remember them all.

Until scandal halted her stride.

Two days ago, she’d quite involuntarily stepped into a muddy puddle she hadn’t even known lay on her sunny path.

Upon reaching Soulville Tower, Maude thanked Rob and hurried inside the building.

She’d spent countless hours in Soulville, her second home, working on her self-titled album. She’d had legendary fights with Matt, storming out whenever she deemed necessary to mark a point. But she held no close resemblance to a diva, Maude thought ruefully. If she had, she’d be enjoying the unwanted attention.

She ran across the lobby, caressed the grand concert piano with distracted fondness, and stopped in front of Matt’s half-open door to his creation room. She pushed it mildly, enlarging the triangular scope through which she peered at him unseen.

He was strumming on his acoustic guitar with one hand while the other tousled his dark blonde hair with frustration. His guitar pick was stuck between his clenched teeth. She couldn’t see his eyes but knew how grey they shone when bent over his guitar, his mind roaming in search of musical creativity.

Maude’s resolve wavered. They had shared so much. She’d hated him, laughed with him, and derided his Parisian arrogance. She sighed. He had been there for her when she’d learned the truth about her parents’ deaths. He’d held her in his arms when she’d welcomed tears as a delivery from her blinding pain.

She gave herself a mental jolt and walked inside the room. He immediately put his guitar aside and rose.

She laid the fateful article on the coffee table without saying a word. Its title popped out of the page, “Can the Love Doctor Cure This Love Triangle?,” by Lexie Staz, accompanied by a picture of Matt and Lindsey locked in an embrace, their faces inches from one another, a prelude to a kiss.

Matt didn’t read the article again because he knew what it said.

A couple of weeks ago, Matt was spotted in a romantic embrace with Lindsey Linton when he went with her to her school’s Summer Dance (see picture on the right).

When I interviewed Maude Laurent for the release of her first single “Betrayed but Not Broken,” she assured me she and Matt were just friends. But their eyes blatantly said otherwise.

Now rumor has it that Matt is preparing to accompany Maude on her tour as the singer’s boyfriend.

What about Lindsey?

“Maude stole him from me,” Lindsey told me herself when I asked her. “Ever since she started working with him, she’s been after him.”

According to Lindsey, things went from bad to worse after the iconic pop star was asked to replace Maude in an opera performance of La Cenerentola.

“Maude choked,” a source confided. “They had to replace her.”

Lindsey fans are outraged, while Maude fans defended their star with gusto . . . and tacky “Lindsey sucks” T-shirts.

But Maude isn’t satisfied until she has them all. Not only has she gotten Matt to abandon Lindsey, she now has Thomas Bradfield wrapped around her little finger.

The young pop singer, made famous after his duet with Lindsey Linton, isn’t hiding his feelings for Maude whom he calls his “ideal girlfriend.”

Soulville tried to sell Maude Laurent as the ordinary French girl next door, but boy, were they wrong . . .

“And she goes on and on and on,” Maude finished, throwing the magazine aside.

“We were just dancing,” Matt explained calmly. “ At the Summer Dance, way

before you and I shared a kiss.”

“I know,” Maude replied, her voice a distant echo. “I can see the disco ball in the background.”

“I was angry with you. You’d left with Jazmine, and I thought you were in love with Bradfield. I danced with Lindsey, but that’s it,” he reaffirmed.

“I believe you,” Maude repeated wanly.

“Don’t let this get to you,” he said. He took her hand and pressed it gently. “Lexie must have sensed there was something going on between us during the interview at the release party.” It would have been hard not to notice the long, lingering looks the two had shared as they spoke of their work.

“And Thomas isn’t helping by telling every reporter he encounters that I’m his ‘ideal girlfriend’ as he puts it,” Maude put in. She shook her head with exasperation. When would he get it in his head that she couldn’t give him what he wanted?

“Don’t worry, Maude. We can put our first date on hold. We’ll do that while we’re on tour together,” Matt added with enthusiasm. They’d been so busy they’d had to postpone their first date several times.

Letting go of his hand, Maude shook her head.

“You’re not coming with me on tour,” Maude declared with decided resolution. She’d thought about it long and hard. Being quarantined for hours like the carrier of a deadly infection had given her ample amount of time to think. She winced when Matt took a step back as if he’d received a blow.

“You can’t be serious,” he replied in disbelief.

“I’m portrayed as some sort of man-eater out to steal anyone’s boyfriend! I’ve given this a great deal of thought. If you come, this story will never die down! I know this took place way before anything happened between us, but nobody else does.”

“Who cares!” Matt exclaimed. “You can’t live your life for everybody else. If you let idle gossip dictate your life, you’ll never live it to its full extent.”

“Growing up, destitution clogged the pores of my skin. Dignity was the only garment I had left to clothe me. It hid my sores, covered the holes in my shoes. When I pinned it on, no dingy soap could scrape it off my straightened backbone. Mrs. Ruchet’s pudgy fingers couldn’t nip it, the twins couldn’t tear it to shreds, and Mr. Ruchet couldn’t ignore it like he ignored everything else involving me. Dignity is the only treasured possession I took from France to New York: I refuse to take it off to be photographed naked under the public eye.”

He couldn’t let her drift away from him. Yet she’d made her decision, and one thing Matt had learned about Maude after having worked with her for seven months, was that she rarely changed her mind once she’d firmly made it up.

“All I know is I can’t live my life this way. I can’t be on Page Six. You’re used to being the center of unwanted attention. The paparazzi, the flash, the gossip, you revel in those. I’m nothing like you in that respect. We can’t be seen together as a couple if everyone thinks I stole you from Lindsey!”

“I used to be faithful to that description. You know it’s no longer the case. I severed all ties with my wild past long before I met you.”

“But they haven’t severed ties with you, Matt,” Maude said with sadness. “I can’t be with you. Not now. Lindsey is telling everyone that I ‘stole her man.’ Me! Seven months ago, I’d never wandered outside of small, dreary Carvin. I’m an ordinary girl, Matt.”

“Not anymore, you aren’t. You’re a star now. How do you expect to avoid scandal forever, even when you’re not the one instigating it? Don’t throw us away because of this stupid article.”

“I want to be appreciated for my music, not for whom I may or may not be dating,” Maude explained. “I’m sorry, Matt. There will be no ‘us.’”

Maude turned around and left the room with a heavy heart. Left alone, Matt threw the magazine against the door she’d just closed and wished with all his heart he could live in a world where there were no Lexies or Lindseys.

Review: On the Island (On the Island #1) By Tracey Garvis-Graves

On the Island  (On the Island #1)

By Tracey Garvis-Graves

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was thirty years old when the seaplane T.J. Callahan and I were traveling on crash-landed in the Indian Ocean. T.J. was sixteen, and three months into remission from Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The pilot’s name was Mick, but he died before we hit the water.

On the Island was an EPIC book!

I don't know where to start from.I L-O-V-E-D this book (I can't stop thinking about it!).

T.J. is just recovering from cancer and the only thing he wants is to spend time with his family and friends. That's until his parents decide that he has alreday lost enough time because of the cancer and it's time to go back on track! That's why they hire Anna to tutor T.J. while on their vacation in the Maldives.

T.J.'s family leave first while T.J. stays behind so that he can go to his friend's party.Anna and T.J. take off together for the islands the very next day!Everything goes as planned until they arrive at Malé International Airport in the Maldives. There their plans are being changed, and they end up taking another flight...

Their pilot, Mick, was a 50-year-old man who during their flight suffered a heart attack. After their seaplane hit the water, things became very hard for Anna and T.J.

Being trapped on a deserted island unknown to anyone isn't easy. But being trapped on a deserted island when everyone presume you're dead and you know help is not coming, is just hard!

Will they know we crashed? Were they tracking us on radar?
Maybe not, because no one came.

Anna and T.J. do anything in order to survive. But as days turn to months and months into years, life becomes more and more harder...

“I give up, T.J. You once said, ‘It’s easier if you don’t think they’re coming back’ and you were right. This one’s not coming back either. A plane will have to land in the lagoon for me to believe we might actually get off this island. Until then, it’s just you and me. That’s the only thing I know for sure.”

“I give up, too,” he whispered.

This book was prodigious! The author is an incredible story-teller who did an amazing job describing to us all the couple went through! How they supported each other, how easily they helped each other and finally how they came closer!

For people who are wondering if the age gap makes their relationship inappropriate or improper or even illegal, I PROMISE it does not! They don't get physically involved until he is almost 19-years-old. But that's even the matter because if you read the book will you see how beautiful it was watching them fall for each other.Their relationship was developing throughout the years passed, the author never tried to hasten their relationship.

The book is told in dual POVs alternately, Anna and TJ. respectively. It's one of the things I loved, because we get to see how they both feel about the things happening to them.It allows to glimpse into their minds which is very important given the situation!

This book is bound to captivate you from its first page till the last. It's one of they books that you are just unable to put down...

And finally, yes this book has a HEA!!!!

“I don't fit in your world."
"Neither do I, So let's make our own. We've done it before.”

For those who were wondering or were unsure of reading it because of T.J.'s cancer. It never came back...

Highly recommended!!!I'm going to re-read it...

Synopsis

When thirty-year-old English teacher Anna Emerson is offered a job tutoring T.J. Callahan at his family's summer rental in the Maldives, she accepts without hesitation; a working vacation on a tropical island trumps the library any day.

T.J. Callahan has no desire to leave town, not that anyone asked him. He's almost seventeen and if having cancer wasn't bad enough, now he has to spend his first summer in remission with his family - and a stack of overdue assignments - instead of his friends.

Anna and T.J. are en route to join T.J.'s family in the Maldives when the pilot of their seaplane suffers a fatal heart attack and crash-lands in the Indian Ocean. Adrift in shark-infested waters, their life jackets keep them afloat until they make it to the shore of an uninhabited island. Now Anna and T.J. just want to survive and they must work together to obtain water, food, fire, and shelter.

Their basic needs might be met but as the days turn to weeks, and then months, the castaways encounter plenty of other obstacles, including violent tropical storms, the many dangers lurking in the sea, and the possibility that T.J.'s cancer could return. As T.J. celebrates yet another birthday on the island, Anna begins to wonder if the biggest challenge of all might be living with a boy who is gradually becoming a man.

Vampire Academy: The Meeting - Dimitri's POV

As I reward for Dimitri winning the YA Crush Tournament, Richelle Mead has written a scene from the first VA book in his point of view.

The Meeting

A scene from the first book of the Vampire Academy series, as told from Dimitri's point of view.

Enjoy!!!!

“Dimitri!”

I turned instantly at the sound of my name, shooting a glare at the guardian approaching in the darkness. What was he thinking? Everyone out here tonight knew how essential secrecy was. It didn’t matter that he was young and simply excited about his first big mission. We had no room for errors, not when this was the only break we’d had in over a year. Realizing his mistake, he grew apologetic, though not nearly enough.

“Sorry.” He dropped his voice to a stage whisper and tapped his ear. “Headset’s not working. We checked the house, and they’re already gone. They must have had warning, maybe a perimeter of spies on the streets.” As his excitement returned, the young guardian—Laurence—began speaking rapidly. “I was thinking about it. They probably have a whole network of people working with them! It makes sense, right? How else have they managed to stay ahead of us for so long? There’s no telling how deep this conspiracy goes! We might be facing an army tonight!”

I said nothing and showed nothing as I mulled over his words. It was something of a mystery how a couple of teenage girls had managed to escape detection for two years, especially when one of them was a privileged Moroi princess and the other a delinquent dhampir with a disciplinary file so long that it broke school records. When I’d joined the teaching staff of St. Vladimir’s last year and learned of the princess’s case, I’d honestly been surprised the girls hadn’t slipped up sooner. Being in league with others might explain how they’d remained hidden …and yet, in all our data gathering, we’d never once had even the slightest hint that they had one accomplice, let alone “a whole network” or “army.”

My silence made Laurence nervous, and he no longer smiled. “It’s irrelevant now,” I told him. “And there’s no point jumping to conclusions when—”

“Dimitri?” A female voice crackled in my earpiece. “We’ve got visuals on them. They’re approaching the intersection of Brown and Boudreaux, from the north.”

Without another word to Laurence, I turned and headed toward the streets indicated. I heard him running after me, but his stride was shorter, and he couldn’t quite keep up. I tried to force calm as my heart rate increased, but it was difficult. This was it. This was it. We might finally have her: Vasilisa Dragomir, the missing princess, last of her line. Although I knew all guardian work was honorable—including the instruction of future guardians—part of me had longed for something more at St. Vladimir’s. When I’d learned about the Dragomir princess and how she’d escaped the school, I’d made finding her a personal project, pushing leads that others had said were hopeless.

Me? I didn’t believe in hopeless.

I slowed my pace as the intersection neared, allowing Laurence to catch up. A quick scan revealed the dark shapes of other guardians lurking in shadows and behind objects. This was the spot they’d chosen for the interception. Quickly, I stepped off the road and hid in the cover of a tree, urging Laurence to do the same with a jerk of my head. We didn’t have to wait long. As I peered around the tree’s edge, I saw two female figures approaching, one practically dragging the other along. At first, I assumed it must be the stronger dhampir helping the princess, but as they grew closer, their heights and builds revealed that it was exactly the opposite.

I had no time to ponder this oddity. When they were about six feet from me, I quickly stepped out from the tree and blocked their path. They came to a halt, and whatever weaknesses the dhampir girl had now vanished. She grabbed the princess roughly by the arm and jerked her back, so that the dhampir’s own body served as a shield keeping me away. Around us, other guardians fanned out, taking defensive positions but not advancing without my command. The dhampir girl’s dark eyes made note of them, but she kept her attention focused squarely on me.

I didn’t entirely know what to expect from her, maybe that she’d try to run away or beg for her freedom. Instead, she shifted into an even more defensive position in front of the princess and spoke in a voice that was barely more than a growl: “Leave her alone. Don’t touch her.”

The girl was hopelessly outmatched yet still defiant, as though I were the one at a disadvantage. In moments like these, I was glad my old instructors in Russia had grilled me into concealing my feelings—because I was surprised. Very surprised. And as I took this dhampir girl in, I suddenly understood with perfect clarity how they’d eluded us for so long. A network of accomplices? An army? Laurence was a fool. The princess didn’t need a network or army, not when she had this protector.

Rose Hathaway.

There was a passion and intensity that radiated off of her, almost like a palpable thing. Tension filled every part of her body as she regarded me, daring me to make a move. She possessed a fierceness I hadn’t expected—that no one had expected, I realized, most likely because they couldn’t see past that delinquent record of hers. But there was a look in her eyes now that said this was no joke, that she would die a thousand times over before she let anyone harm the princess at her back. She reminded me of a cornered wildcat, sleek and beautiful—but fully capable of clawing your face out if provoked.

And yes, even in the poor lighting, I could see that she was beautiful—in a deadly way—and that struck me too. Her pictures hadn’t done her justice. Long, dark hair framed a face filled with the sort of hard-edged beauty a man might easily dash his heart against. Her eyes, though filled with hatred for me, still managed to be alluring—which only added to her danger. She might be unarmed, but Rose Hathaway was in possession of many weapons.

I didn’t want to fight her and held out my hands in a placating gesture as I took a step forward. “I’m not going to—”

She attacked.

I saw it coming and wasn’t surprised by the action itself so much as that she’d even try it with the odds stacked against her. Should I have been surprised? Probably not. As I’d observed, it was clear that Rose was willing to do anything and fight anyone to protect her friend. I admired that—I admired that a lot—but it didn’t stop me from striking out to block her. The princess was still my goal tonight. And although Rose might have passion and defiance, her attack was clumsy and easy to deflect. She’d been gone too long from formal training. She recovered badly and started to fall, and I remembered how she’d stumbled earlier. Out of instinct, I reached out and caught her before she could hit the ground, keeping her steady on her feet. That long, marvelous hair fell away from her face, revealing two bloody marks on the side of her neck. Another surprise—but it explained her fatigue and pale complexion. Apparently her devotion to the princess went beyond just defense. Noticing my scrutiny, Rose knocked some of her tangled hair forward to cover her neck.

Despite the hopelessness of her situation, I could see her lithe body preparing for another attack. I tensed in response, even though I didn’t want this brave, beautiful, and wild girl to be my enemy. I wanted her as…what? I wasn’t sure. Something more than an outmatched scuffle on a Portland street. There was too much potential here. This girl could be unstoppable if her talents were properly cultivated. I wanted to help her.

But I would fight her if I had to.

Suddenly, Princess Vasilisa caught hold of her friend’s hand. “Rose. Don’t.”

For a moment, nothing happened, and we all stood frozen. Then, slowly, the tension and hostility eased out of Rose’s body. Well, not all of the hostility. There was still a dangerous glint in her eyes that kept me on guard. The rest of her body language said that although she hadn’t exactly admitted defeat , she had conceded to a truce—so long as I gave her no cause for alarm.

I didn’t plan to. I also don’t plan on ever underestimating you again, wild girl, I thought, momentarily locking eyes with her. And I’ll make sure no one else ever underestimates you either.

Satisfied that she was pacified—at least momentarily—I dragged my eyes from her dark gaze and focused on the princess. After all, runaway or not, Vasilisa Dragomir was the last of a royal line, and certain protocols had to be followed. I bowed before her. “My name is Dimitri Belikov. I’ve come to take you back to St. Vladimir’s Academy, Princess.”

"You were my tempest, my thunder cloud, my tree in the downpour. I loved all those things, and I loved you."

Being bullied isn't easy, being bullied by your ex-best friend is tough...

Tate and Jared are not only neighbors but Best FRIENDS as well.

description

But then something happened and tore them apart.

Life became hard and unbearable for Tate and she did what she had to do in order to "survive", she RUN!

Jared, dear Jared!

Yeah, you got me confushed with all those mixed signals.

Jared has led a hard life.Disappointed and betrayed by both of his parents, the only one he could count on was Tate.

So when he "lost" her, he lost himself as well!

Now, Tate is back and determined to enjoy her senior year! That is, until she confronts Jared once again...

I admired Tate. She's an incredible heroine. She's strong and courageous, when she could hide and let the world around her, crush her.

She gave as good as she got!

This book is absofuckinglutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.It has an ORIGINAl plot, very mature yet troubled main characters, some hilarious secondary characters (yeah you guessed right, I'm referring to Madoc) and last but not least it has a HEA.

Penelope Douglas you're my new #1 fav author!

I definitely recommend it!

PS:I'm going to re-read it right now!!!!

Synopsis:

My name is Tate. He doesn't call me that, though. He would never refer to me so informally, if he referred to me at all.

We're neighbors, and once, we were best friends. But then, one summer, he turned on me and has made it his mission to screw up my life at every opportunity. I've been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to hide from him. I worried about what was around every corner and behind every door.

So I left.

I spent a year studying abroad and bathed in the freedom of life without Jared. Now I'm back to finish up high school and get the hell out of here forever. I'm hoping that after a year of breathing room, he's moved on and forgotten all about me.

But even if he hasn't changed, I have. I'm not interested in avoiding him or turning the other cheek anymore. We're going to go head to head, because neither of us wants to back down.

Sometimes It Lasts: Teaser

WHILE IT LASTS is currently on sale for only $1.99 on Amazon in the US

SOMETIMES IT LASTS releases as an ebook on August 27, 2013. (Print coming to stores later) COVER for Sometimes It Lasts also coming soon!

"Here is the teaser I (Abbi Glines) read last night in the live chat for those of you who missed it. (Note: this is in its unedited glory.) "

Cage had been helping Daddy all week. It was as if it was last summer again… but it wasn’t. This time my dad was working with Cage and I was allowed near Cage… and my daddy was sick. “He should be back soon. He had to go take care of some things and get more of my things.” I trailed off because Daddy liked to try and talk me into leaving here when he got a chance.

He let out a weary sigh and I knew he was about to say something he knew I didn’t want to hear. I prepared myself for him telling me I needed to leave again. “I know you want to stay with me. I understand it. And honestly I’m glad you do. I want to spend as much time with you as I can. You’re the most important thing in my life. You know that right?”

I wasn’t going to cry. I couldn’t do that to him. He needed to talk and I had to be strong enough to let him. I nodded instead.

“Good. ‘Cause I need to say something that you’re not gonna wanna hear. But I love you and I want you to always be happy. I know Cage makes you happy. He may not have been my choice for you but he loves you like a crazy man. I’ve seen it all over his face this week. He’ll do anything you ask him to including go jumping off a bridge. So, I am telling you this cause someone needs to. You gotta let that boy go, baby girl. He came here last summer because he had a plan. He had one chance to get the future he wants and even though he is a rascal he is a smart boy. He got what he wanted. But if you ask him to let it go he will. In a heartbeat. Don’t make him choose. Let him go. Make it okay for him to go take that dream he fought for. Do it ‘cause you love him.”

Daddy and Jeremy had always thought alike. I should have known this was bothering Daddy too. It warmed my heart to know my daddy was thinking of Cage’s best interest. Not just mine. I wanted my daddy to love Cage too.

“I’m talking to him tonight. He’ll be going tomorrow. I’m not giving him a choice. I’m not breaking things off we will just do the long distance thing.”

Abbi Glines Explains The Sea Breeze Series

Posted on 10:41 PM
0
I’m getting a lot of questions on the Sea Breeze series since I have a new book coming out in that series at the end of August. The Sea Breeze series follows a group of friends in the coastal town of Sea Breeze. Here is the order the series is in and info on each book:
#1 Breathe- this is my only true YA book. It has a couple of sexy scenes but it is safe for teens to read. Jax Stone is the world’s favorite teen rock star and he’s come to Sea Breeze, AL where he meets Sadie White. But Jax isn’t the only guy who wants Sadie’s attention... so does local boy Marcus Hardy

#2 Because of Low- this is my first New Adult book. Marcus Hardy moves in with Sea Breeze bad boy, Cage York. What Marcus didn’t expect was for a playboy like Cage York to have a sweet innocent female best friend like Willow AKA Low. When Cage leaves them alone together too many times things start to heat up. Then there is a twist no one sees coming.

#3 While It Lasts- This is considered New Adult but it is very explicit. Cage York has screwed up. In order to keep his scholarship he has to go spend his summer working on a farm. He isn’t happy about it until the farmer’s daughter, Eva Brooks walks out onto her front porch with a saucy glare and a sharp tongue. He doesn’t stand a chance.

#4 Just For Now- This one is also very explicit. Marcus Hardy’s best friend has always been Preston Drake. They grew up together even though Marcus lived a privileged life and Preston.... didn’t. Not even close. When Marcus’s little sister Amanda finally makes her move on Preston, he takes off running in the other direction. He has secrets that no one knows and he isn’t worth Amanda’s attention. But she doesn’t see it that way.

AND COMING August 27- #5 Sometimes It Lasts (Cage and Eva #2) Cage and Eva are back a year later from the summer they met in While It Lasts. Cage is one step closer to his dream and Eva's life has just taken a drastic turn. When Cage leaves to go play baseball at a big college, Eva stays behind to be with her father. Sometimes long distance doesn't work... sometimes you have to make a sacrifice because you love someone enough.... and sometimes you must decide what you want more.

Lick  (Stage Dive #1)

By Kylie Scott

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"Love isn’t always smooth or straightforward. It can be messy and painful. Doesn’t mean it isn’t still the most incredible thing that can ever happen to you. Doesn’t mean I’m not crazy about you.”

Imagine waking up in Vegas with a killer hangover, a ring on your finger and a gorgeous inked stranger man besides you!

What would you do? Probably what Evelyn did: Ask...

"What did we do last night?”
“We got fucking married,” he growled.

Unprepared by that answer, Ev thinks of a solution. DIVORCE

She thinks that's the best course of action for them both, but what she's not expecting is David's reaction.

David may not have planned this wedding, he may not even know if they're going to make it but he knows one thing for sure:

he can't stay away from her...

description
David is willing to give their marriage a shot.

With everything against them, will they be able to succeed???

A must-read book that will blow you away. It will grip you from the very first page till the last!!!

It will leave you wanting more (even though it's not a cliffhanger)

“I think I’m in love with your shower.”
“You’re cheating on me with the shower? Damn, Evelyn. That’s harsh."

Lick is the outset to an incredible series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone as each one will feature a different couple.

Can't wait for the next book....

Synopsis:

Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. The Darkest Craving (Lords of the Underworld #10) By Gena Showalter - Excerpt

Expected publication: July 30th 2013

His skin prickled, and maybe he moved. Maybe he spoke. Her gaze lifted to meet his. Her lips parted on a startled exhalation. Could she see the rawness of his need?
“Kane.” A breathy entreaty.
In that moment, the cry of the demon ceased to matter. The past faded, leaving only the present…the future, and the unstoppable tide of the pleasure to come. Every bone vibrated. He needed to get inside her. Here. Now.
It would be agony.
It would be ecstasy.
Tension coiled low in his gut, only to spring apart and jolt him into a stand. “Leave us,” he said, his voice a broken rasp.
No questions. No protests. The two seamstresses flittered from the room, shutting the door behind them.
The teapot shattered on the tray, dark liquid spilling everywhere, glass flying. Disaster’s newest attempt to deter him.
Tinker Bell didn’t seem to notice, was too busy watching him. “I-is something wrong?”
Silent, he stalked toward her. A predator with a purpose. He was done resisting. Done thinking about all the reasons why not. Today, he was taking something.
Perhaps sensing the dark, greedy urges driving him, she straightened with a snap. Her breathing quickened. “Kane,” she said.
“Tell me to stop.” He stood a mere heartbeat away, their gazes locked together, trapped. Nothing else would halt the madness.
“I…I can’t.”

Caressed by a Crimson Moon  (Rulers of Darkness #3)

By Amanda J. Greene

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Favourite Quote:

“I do not want you to leave. Please…tell me what I can do to…make you stay. I will do anything....Gods, Eva. I cannot lose you. Please, tell me what I can—”

“Just ask me, Hadrian.”

“Will you stay?”

3.5 Stars

The third book in the Rulers of Darkness series tells the story of Hadrian and Eva. I enjoyed their story but there some times that I felt that things (situations between the main characters) were repeated...

Despite that fact, it was easy enough to be captured by this book.

In this book we get to see characters from the previous book of the series such as, Dimitri and Kerstyn, Dorian and Victoria, Sonya, Falcon, Silvie and last but not least Gannon...

So, so far so good!

And in case you're wondering why I gave this book 3.5 Stars, the answer is simple!

This book is a cliffhanger!

description

I think (strongly believe) that the next book will be about Sonya and maybe (pls be pls be) Falcon?????

But I really don't know since

I was wrong....(Thank God!!!!!)

Apparently we have a title..

Caressed by Shadows

Sonya and Falcon's story - Release date to be announced.(pityyyyyy)

Here's what the author said at her website:

UPDATE: I will be revealing the cover of Caressed by Shadows (Rulers of Darkness #4) on August 2nd, along with the book description, book trailer, and tentative release date.

First paragraph of Caressed by Shadows:

The humans knew nothing of the world they lived in, blissfully ignorant of the creatures that surrounded them, vampires, shape-shifters and witches. Each appeared to be no different than their mortal counter parts. Falcon was one of those creatures, a vampire. His lungs expanded, filling with useless oxygen and his heart beat with a steady pulse that heated his flesh and colored his cheeks. Oh, yes, his kind could blend in seamlessly amongst their prey, their victims easily seduced by their otherworldly allure...

Plus some teasers:

Teaser #1: Here

Teaser #2: Here

Teaser #3: Here

I can't wait for August 2nd.....

Synopsis:

Consumed by madness and tormented by dark memories of blood and death, Hadrian Lucretius, King of the Validus Clan, has returned after living in self-imposed exile for nearly three hundred and fifty years.

Hadrian’s reputation is both legendary and lethal; he is ruthless, bloodthirsty, lusty, and soulless. When Eva arrives at the ancient fortress high in the Carpathian Mountains, she is shocked to find a ravaged man with dark burning eyes filled with loneliness and dangerous desire.

Excerpt

I’d thought I hated Sienna Martin. That was nothing, a childish grudge. I used to hate Remi until my heart started bleeding for her. That was nothing too. Hate was what I felt for Kamon.

I’d give anything to know what he was up to, pull him out of the shadows and into the light. Was he getting close? Did he know who and what I was?

I welcomed the energy that rushed over my skin, and his name echoed in my head.

He was in New Orleans. I knew it for a fact.

I faintly heard when Nate turned off the TV. I didn’t open my eyes, too wrapped up in the buzzing, in the power I pretended I didn’t have.

Behind my eyelids, I saw a blurry picture of my New Orleans backyard.

Kamon chuckled, circling Lydia Shaw near the pool. “Where is she?” he asked.

“That’s not your business, and stay away from this house.”

“She is very much so my business. A girl with her potential does not come along every day. I noticed it the first time I saw her. I knew then.”

Lydia laughed and stepped closer to his face. “I can’t wait for this to be over,” she said.

My muscles quivered. Lydia and Kamon shook with me.

“Me either. I have big plans. I’ve been working on my new title. What do you think of Emperor Kamon? Too much?” He laughed. “There’s finally a date after your dash. I guess I’m lucky Leah’s so unstable. I know you’re terrified. It’s getting so close. July 4th.”

I shook even harder and heard a far away scream.

Lydia spun around, and Remi wiggled her fingers at her, a taunting wave. Her jet-black hair dangled to her waist now. My Master, My Lord, in a fancy, ancient script, was permanently inked on her stomach, right above her low-cutting leather pants.

“Remi is one of the best things to ever happen to me. Her first offering brought my nemesis barging through the doors. In time, she’ll bring me Leah. I’ve seen July 4th, Lydia. It is your pet’s destiny, and I’m going to help her fulfill it.”

My backyard trembled like an earthquake was ravishing New Orleans, and someone screamed, “Emma, hold her head!”

Nate.

“Wake up, Chris,” Emma said.

I opened my eyes. Nate and Em were shaking me and swatting at my cheeks. Blood was everywhere – on Nate’s hands, his chest, my pillow.

I’d had another fit. Correction. I was still having a fit, shaking and bleeding and buzzing. Em’s thoughts were frantic and in fluent French. But understandable. I had a feeling she could speak Chinese, and I would understand it right now.

She snapped and disappeared, leaving me alone with Nate. His face vibrated as I shook, and he braced me against his chest.

After a moment, his body tensed against mine, and he drew his arms away, no longer holding me. My nails were in his sides, and they didn’t want to let go.

Embers blew around us, and found their way to his head, circling and sparkling, crowning him with fire. I coughed from the smoke tickling my throat. He didn’t seem to see them at all.

A deep voice I’d never heard screamed, “Dali!” It echoed several times after. With each repeat, Nate clutched his head tighter, in pain.

All day I had been questioning where I belonged. Now I knew. I belonged in a cage, not allowed to roam freely around my enemies.

I didn’t want to hurt him. Or myself. I needed to listen to my body. Someone had told me that. Someone …

A flash of light blinded me, and Sophia and Emma appeared when it cleared.

Sophia pried my clenched jaw open. Something warm filled my mouth and slithered down my throat.

Then there was nothing but darkness.

Falling for the Backup  (Assassins #3.5)

By Toni Aleo

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"I think I need to give you a hockeymacation.”

“Hockeymacation?”

“Yes, I am going to school you in the art of hockey"

“What! Seriously?”

“Yes, you need to be educated.”

An enjoyable short novella!

Aynslee is having a horrible week! That is, until she meets Jordan.

After injuring his left knee, Jordan is replaced by Tate Odder. Now a backup goalie, Jordan is looking for a team to take him as the starting goalie. But he never thought that his plans would be interrupted by a tempting teacher…

Their first encounter isn’t exactly ideal as Jordan spills coffee on Aynslee but when he starts apologizing she opens a dialogue (which is very amusing).Despite parting ways, they meet once again and their attraction is inevitable...

I really liked this novella! It was short but had everything a book has. I can’t say that I didn’t see the end coming but there were times that I was very unsure of it! And, yes, you guessed right! It has a HEA...

In this novella, there were some scenes with Piper were we learned that she's pregnant and that got me looking forward for Blue Lines! Can't wait...

So, as we wait for Blue Lines, go pick this up...

Synopsis:

After serving as a dutiful bridesmaid in the wedding from hell, Aynslee Shaw just wants to slink home to Nashville and forget the whole trip. That is, until the hottest guy she’s ever seen is seated next to her on the flight and dazzles her with his easy laugh and killer smile. But just when she thinks things are getting good, he vanishes, leaving Aynslee wondering, was that guy the one? And did she just let him slip through her fingers?

Former superstar goalie Jordan Ryan is back on the ice—finally. After a crippling knee injury that had him wondering if he’d ever play pro hockey again, he’s got his full attention on rebuilding his career. So a pretty—okay, beautiful—girl on a plane shouldn’t be a distraction. But Jordan is very, very distracted. And when Aynslee crosses his path again, he’s not sure any job in the world is worth missing his second chance with a woman like her.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from the Loveswept title Empty Net.

Hilarious! (just that)

I just saw it and I can't stop laughing....

 I LOVE the minions!

Here's 10 things you should know about them:

1.They are impulsive creatures with little self-control,

2. But with a wide-eyed wonder and odd innocence

2,5.The Minions have standard English names such as Larry, Dave, Kevin, Jerry, Stuart, Mark, Tim, Jorge, and Phil.

3.They are fiercely loyal to Gru and Dr. Nefario and extremely eager to please,

4.Despite being relatively simple-minded, they are capable of building weapons, operating those weapons, using computers, and even driving.

5.Minions love bananas and apples (or "papples" as they call them), and the mere sight of one of these fruits can result in complete chaos.

6. They find anything having to do with butts extremely funny.

7.There are few things these little guys do not find funny.

8.They also love spitting, frog legs, bunnies, and building things.

9.They love trying new things.

10.I just LOVE them

Go watch it...
