Kit and Noah’s rock star romance is finally here in the newest addition to Nalini Singh’s Rock Kiss Series!!

Releasing: October 6th

From New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh comes the next contemporary romance in the Rock Kiss series...
Kit Devigny could have loved rock guitarist Noah St. John. Their friendship burned with the promise of intense passion and searing tenderness...until the night Noah deliberately shattered her heart.
Noah knows he destroyed something precious the night he chose to betray Kit, but he'd rather she hate him than learn his darkest secret. All he has left is his music. It's his saving grace, but it doesn't silence the voices that keep him up at night. Chasing oblivion through endless one-night-stands, he earns a few hours' sleep and his bad boy reputation.
When a media error sees Noah and Kit dubbed the new "it" couple, Kit discovers her chance at the role of a lifetime hinges on riding the media wave. Wanting--needing--to give Kit this, even if he can't give her everything, Noah agrees to play the adoring boyfriend. Only the illusion is suddenly too real, too painful, too beautiful...and it may be too late for the redemption of Noah St. John.

Review: Confess by Colleen Hoover

Title: Confess
Author: Colleen Hoover
Series: None

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | BookDepo
Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.
For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.
The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…
For those who don’t know, Colleen Hoover is a new author to me. Her books have been in my tbr list since Hopeless first came out but it wasn’t until July that I decided to read my first CoHo book, Hopeless. I was hooked and ended up reading all of her books. Confess was the last book I read.

Al of CoHo’s books are unique but Confess was more so.

Auburn Reed’s life has been a living hell for the past six years. She lost too much but yet got a gift that is the only thing keeping her going, that and a promise of a better future. Her circumstances may not be ideal but Auburn has still hope that things will get better. Having just moved to Dallas, she is in desperate need of money so when she finds a “help wanted” sign in the window of an art studio, she takes it.

Being an artist was never supposed to be easy and there is no one who knows that better than Owen Gentry. A loner with the ability to bring his paintings to life. His ability to draw is striking but what is more striking is that fact that Owen’s paintings are inspired by other people’s confessions. When Auburn walks in his gallery to take the job, Owen can’t believe that fate would be so kind.

There are so many layers to Owen and Auburn’s story. It’s the little details that make the difference. Confess is told by both Auburn and Owen’s POVs. The bond that exists between them was forged long before they met in the gallery. Still the attraction between them sets off the minute Auburn decides to step into Owen’s art gallery.

Being Auburn and Own isn’t easy. Auburn has her own reality to live in while Owen creates his own world. Their worlds collide the moment their responsibilities become more pressing.

Confess was a pretty rare book. I couldn’t find any flaws (not that I looked) everything from the cover to the little details of the story were captivating. I read it in a matter of hours and re-read it the same day. I couldn’t stop staring at the paintings and reading Auburn and Owen’s dialogues. They were both inspiring characters: selfless, compassionate, strong and full of spirit.

Confess is an emotional realistic book about two people who have known each other longer than they think.

Totally recommended!

Until Friday night, Fisher's Light and Sustained were really great while Archange's Enigma rocked! Naasir and Andromeda were the best characters in the series.

Review: Black Blood (Black Bloods #1) by John Hennessy

Title: Black Blood
Author: John Hennessy
Series: Black Bloods #1

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N
Vampires, werewolves, witches, magic—no one in the Sanctuary, home of the survivors of the nuclear apocalypse, believes in such imaginary creations, including Aberdeen Dareday. That is until the day Abby wakes up with black veins bulging under her skin. The day she learns everything she’s been told about the world is a lie. Forced to flee humanity’s last refuge because of her abnormality, and the corpses left in its unexplainable wake, she finds herself on the run in an entirely new world. A world in which darkness reigns, full of supernatural creatures bent on her execution.

When all seems lost and facing certain death, Abby is saved by Ash, a quiet yet striking young man who shares her black blood, and her mysterious powers. After Ash reveals a clue regarding an old witch, they head north to her home in Montana, determined to beat the piling odds and obtain the answers they seek. Now hunted by everyone from vengeful humans, to the alluring vampire Prince of Texas, to the Lord Alpha of the largest werewolf pack ever to exist, Abby must discover what is so special about her black blood if she hopes to live and fight another day, but time stands against them as their enemies close in for the kill.
Black blood is the first book I read by John Hennessy. Since I read the blurb of the book I couldn’t wait to read it.

Aberdeen Dareday lives in a post apocalyptic earth where the survivors of the nuclear apocalypse live in a Sanctuary. The Sanctuary provides life to the few survivors of the apocalypse or so they have been told. No one dares leave the safety of the sanctuary. If the harsh conditions won’t kill them then the radiation surely will. When Abby wakes up with black veins she knows she will have to flee the sanctuary or else she is as good as dead.

What awaits her outside is fat from the destruction she thought she would find. Abby is on the run away from anything familiar and alone to face the truth, she is abnormal, a black blood. So when she is saved by Ash, Abby isn’t shocked to learn that vampires, werewolves and even witches are real. What Abby can’t figure out is why everyone wants her blood.

Black blood is as dark as the title suggests. There are so many paranormal creatures in this post apocalyptic world. Abby and Ash have a long journey ahead in order to get the answers they seek and the paranormals aren’t their only enemy. The humans living outside of the sanctuary want Abby dead as well.

Abby was a very well developed character but she was really naïve. The only reason she had survived this long is because she had Jasper in the beginning and then Ash. Of course as Abby learner to embrace her gifts she became powerful enough to protect herself, which was really cool.

I would like to say that there was romance between Abby and Ash but even if there was I didn’t pick it up. Ash was a great know-it-all kind of a guy which came in handy since he grew up in a post apocalyptic world. There is something between them but it wasn’t emphasized much in this book. Maybe we will see more of them in the sequel. However there was a spark between Abby and Jasper, whom I really liked, but it’s complicated since Jasper gets out of the picture as soon as Ash comes in.

Black blood was a nice combination of action, twists, mystery, the paranormal and aliens all set in a post apocalyptic world. I would have liked to see more romance but Abby had a lot in her plate as it was.

I had a lot of fun following Abby on her journey to find answers and I’ll definitely read the sequel to see what Abby plans to do now that she has them.

I definitely recommend it!

WAITING ON WEDNESDAY #56 Dark Wild Night (Wild Seasons #3) by Christina Lauren

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine and is where we can talk about books we are looking forward to being released.

Title: Dark Wild Night
Series: Wild Seasons #3

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
But what didn't happen in Vegas seems to follow them everywhere.

Lola and Oliver like to congratulate themselves on having the good sense to not consummate their drunken Las Vegas wedding. If they’d doubled-down on that mistake, their Just Friends situation might not be half as great as it is now.
... Or so goes the official line.
In reality, Lola’s wanted Oliver since day one—and over time has only fallen harder for his sexy Aussie accent and easygoing ability to take her as she comes. More at home in her studio than in baring herself to people, Lola’s instinctive comfort around Oliver nearly seems too good to be true. So why ruin a good thing?
Even as geek girls fawn over him, Oliver can’t get his mind off what he didn’t do with Lola when he had the chance. He knows what he wants with her now ... and it’s far outside the friend zone. When Lola’s graphic novel starts getting national acclaim—and is then fast-tracked for a major motion picture—Oliver steps up to be there for her whenever she needs him. After all, she’s not the kind of girl who likes all that attention, but maybe she’s the kind who’ll eventually like him.
Sometimes seeing what’s right in front of us takes a great leap of faith. And sometimes a dark wild night in Vegas isn’t just the end of a day, but the beginning of a bright new life...
What are you waiting on Wednesday?
