In this children's fantasy series from Alyson Noël, author of the Immortals series, Riley has crossed the bridge into the afterlife—a place called Here, where time is always Now. She has picked up life where she left off when she was alive, living with her parents and dog in a nice house in a nice neighborhood. When she’s summoned before The Council, she learns that the afterlife isn’t just an eternity of leisure. She’s been assigned a job, Soul Catcher, and a teacher, Bodhi, a possibly cute, seemingly nerdy boy who’s definitely hiding something.

When I finished The Immortals series, I realy wanted to find out what happend to Riley when she crossed the bridge. So, I now did.

Radiance was a nice introduction to this new world Riley is a part of. We get to see Here and Now, and learn how this new place works, we get to see how Riley is doing in her afterlife, we meet new characters such as Bodhi (he teacher/guide and many other things) and we finally get to learn what Riley will be doing in Here and Now.

"Somewhere in the crowd was at least one potential friend who'd understand the fundamental value of goofing off.
Because if not, how boring would that be?”

She’s been assigned a job, Soul Catcher.

First assignment: a Radiant Boy who’s been haunting a castle in England for centuries. Many Soul Catchers have tried to get him to cross the bridge and failed. But all of that was before he met Riley...

Shimmer

"The true liberation, the true path to freedom, lay in the ability to forgive.”

In Smimmer Riley, Buttercup, and Bodhi are enjoying a well-deserved vacation. But soon things change when a young ghost named Rebecca (As the daughter of a former plantation owner, she is furious about being murdered during a slave revolt in 1733.), is lashing out by keeping the ghosts who died along with her trapped in their worst memories. Riley will do anything to protect her friends and help this little "girl"...

Dreamland

In this amazing sequel to Shimmer, Riley realizes how lonely afterlife can be. In an effort to "talk" to her sister, Riley visits the place where dreams happen. But what she learns there, shocks her. Apparently she can't make a dream but she can Dream Jump (jump into a dreamer’s dream). But that's not enough for Riley...

What Riley doesn't seem to understand, thought, is that her actions have consequences and she's about to pay them!!!

"Appearances are really just manifestations of how we see ourselves. And so, with that in mind, the way you see yourself, well, it has a direct effect on what you become, and how others see you.”

Whisper

“Your heart always knows what's important. It always knows how to guide you. It's pure, and trustworthy--though it will never shout to be heard. it will never speak above a whisper. But if you learn how to heed it, how to hear it, you will never feel lost in the world.”
This time, Riley might really have bitten off more than she’s ready for. After practically begging the Council for a more challenging Soul Catch, she is assigned an actual Roman gladiator—Theocoles, the Pillar of Doom. How is Riley, a skinny twelve-year-old, supposed to get through to him? Especially when staying in his world, offers her all she ever wanted???

A very enjoyable series!!
