Fiercely independent Camille "Cami" Camlin gladly moved on from her childhood before it was over. She has held down a job since before she could drive, and moved into her own apartment after her freshman year of college. Now tending bar at The Red Door, Cami doesn’t have time for much else besides work and classes, until a trip to see her boyfriend is cancelled, leaving her with a first weekend off in almost a year.
Trenton Maddox was the king of Eastern State University, dating co-eds before he even graduated high school. His friends wanted to be him, and women wanted to tame him, but after a tragic accident turned his world upside down, Trenton leaves campus to come to grips with the crushing guilt.

Eighteen months later, Trenton is living at home with his widower father, and works full-time at a local tattoo parlor to help with the bills. Just when he thinks his life is returning to normal, he notices Cami sitting alone at a table at The Red. As the baby sister of four rowdy brothers, Cami believes she’ll have no problem keeping her new friendship with Trenton Maddox strictly platonic. But when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever—even if she is the only reason their already broken family could fall apart.

"No one has ever wanted someone as much as I want you" -Trent

Beautiful Oblivion is the first book in the Maddox Brother series by Jamie McGuire.

This series is a completly new series about the Maddox brothers and it totally blew me away!

Cami is the only girl in a family with three boys. It's very difficult to be independent but Cami is determined to make it on her own. But things aren't always as easy as we want them to be. Cami and her boyfriend T.J. have barely enough time to see each other before their too different lives pull them away. They are so different. They live in different states, they have different expectations and most of all they desire different things.

Enter Trent Maddox. Trent may not know what his future holds but he knows one thing: Cami will be part of it. Ever since Trent met Cami he can't stay away from her, he knows that she was meant to be his. But Trent's life hasn't been easy. As much as he wants to move forward he's always pulled back by ghosts of his past.

Beautiful Oblivion begins just before Beautiful Disaster and then continues parallel to it. We get to see Travis but our story is mainly focused on Trent, our hero and Cami, our heroine.

I was very surprised to see that deep down, Trent was just a man rulled by his guilt about a horrible accident. He let his guilt consume every aspect of his life and he didn't really see the world around him. Until Cami. Then we got to see the man "behind the mask". Trent was so sweet, protective, caring, charming, funny, passionate. But so was Cami. She was confident, strong, loyal, she wanted to protect her family and wasn't even afraid to stand up to her barbarian of a father. She was a perfect match for Trent!

What I also loved were the secondary characters. Raegan, Cami's bff surely held my attention but so did Violet, a sweet little girl that Trent "babysits" sometimes, Trent's co-workers surely made an impretion to me! They were all described to such depth, that made me wonder if they will ever get their story.

The only thing that didn't sit well with me, was that Jamie didn't actually solve Cami's family's issue. I hoped that in the end we would get a HEA, which we do, but it didn't really feel like one with that problem hanging above their heads.

Despite that everything came together as it should. Cami and Trent were a perfect combination with the right amount of chemistry and we got to see some "Pigeon" scenes (just wow).

Beautiful Oblivion was so much more than I originally anticipated. It wasn't just a story about love but about friendship, family, fate. I just hope the next book be as good as this one.

Devoured this book! Go read it!

Note : Beautiful Disaster fans will probably enjoy it the most!
